That one picture is actually classic Matthew Klint in quality. It is zoomed in so much that it is very difficult to understand what part of the seat it is, and where in relation to other seat parts it is.
If this is the on ly damage, no ground for grounding the plane. I know French governments can become very hostile (google rainbow warrior) but I would expect French governments to truly rip a plane into pieces rather than just one broken seat.
Scam artists. They could at least attempt to make it believable - that photo of the vandalism is hilarious.

Kind of looks ( possibly ) like it sustained damage from cleaning equipment? Oh the outrage!
They actually murdered someone. That's small to you? I mean they were clowns who probably weren't trying to kill anyone but again they were clowns so they screwed up like 6 different things but they still killed someone.
Severely damaged ? Grounded aircraft ? How would a tear in a seat impact on the avionics ? Sounds fishy
I think it is likely, that an Air Canada passenger had a connection with Air Cote and got angry that they didn't speak enough (or the right) French.

This article is from a "newspaper" that has no link to the Ivorian government press and is not even a decently followed website in Côte d'Ivoire.
The airline hasn't shared anything about an incident through any of their conventional channels.
It has to be placed in a geopolitical context where Côte d'Ivoire is an ally and partner of France, and one of the most "pro west" nation in the region, and numerous so called "sovereignist" groups of interest, some backed by Russia, have been waging information warfare in order to sway the Ivorian public opinion on our government's affinities.
This looks like it's straight out of their playbook, accusing western partners of, harming the country to make them look untrustworthy.
Similar articles have accused the french army of shooting ivorian soldiers during training as an example.

If there is evidence of this seat being intentionally damaged - so real act of vandalism - however small - the plane should have been grounded - because of unauthorized access - and other potential-- and more serious - damage

I know it is a joke but Ivorians speak French as a native language, it's the language of teaching in schools, and it is a much more "understandable" one than in Quebec 🙂
One has to wonder who profits from this. This kind of articles designed to nourish the anti french sentiment has been made in great numbers in Niger prior to ousting the french and replacing them with Russian militia Wagner. Something bigger could be at play here.

General Coulibaly is a former Air Force Officier. He's not the CEO but the chairman of the board, as in the designated representative of the government's majority stake in the company.
The airline is run by Laurent Loukou, the actual CEO, who's a more typical airline executive.

The ivorian gouvernement is friendly to the west and one of the last major french allies in the region.
Russians are at work trying to sway the ivorian opinion against that.
