23k economy or 55k biz to US-(deep) South America on AA is a pretty good deal.
Redeeming for AA domestically is functionally impossible to redeem apparently. AY told me AA never releases the seats to them. I was skeptical but several other agents said the same to me.
Really cause used to be that AA transcontinental first had lots of availability to etihad so I would assume same to AY
Using Finnair Avios on flights to Finland can be a good deal - if you are flying from one of their US airports. They flat-out don't offer any award flights that connect to my city (even though we have plenty of AA flights) and I have to purchase a separate positioning flight and recheck baggage. 🙁
I just just tried to book an American Airlines flight, when I contacted Finnair, I was given a price per segment. I questioned this and was told they always price per segment. Hoping this was just an uninformed agent.
finnair requires less than british airways for flights within US. How have you missed this?
