Does anyone have an example of adding a stopover to an existing ticket without the agent repricing the entire ticket?
@ John -- Unfortunately a ticket would be repriced if you added a stopover, there's no way around that.
The stopover feature option only appears now Mulit-City/Stopover (Beta). It was never there before and was just Multi-city before which were only two options anyway Flight 1 and Flight 2. At least I don't recall the add another flight option which also now shows up at the bottom. I wonder if you add four flights this way it automatically adds up to 20K points just with the stopovers? Will give it a try.
Ben - the best part is that stopovers on one-way itineraries aren't necessarily limited to hubs, and don't necessarily have to be on the same airline either. The options are truly limitless. Love it.
The multicity/stopover booking feature online is still restricted to one stopover when booking with points. For more than one you still need to call the Aeroplan centre. They do however say the other legs can be made on another booking. Useless feature.
Loved the days gone by when once could book a round the world under one booking with at least two stopovers all with the permitted distance. Did two trips this way at 100K in Economy. KHI was the destination city

Hadn't had my coffee yet!! The stopover feature is within the two allowable bookings. Though nothing shows up as bookable saying no flights. Will keep trying
Anyone know how to tell if Etihad First availability is phantom or not. If I search non-stop from IAD-AUH no first availability pops up. If I search IAD-MLE then first availability pops up from IAD-AUH (and business or economy from AUH-MLE). For example, try it on June 15, 2023. I tried to call aeroplan to confirm if it was phantom or not, but after an hour on hold, I gave up. Last thing I want to do is transfer a ton of points to aeroplan, find out its phantom availability, and then have the points orphaned there.
One data point here: I tried Southeast Asia (BKK) to the US (SFO) via Australia (MEL). Booked separately, it's 85k in economy. Booked as stopover it's 80k. Meaning, the total mile cost is still governed by total miles traveled. They're NOT pricing it as A to B + 5k; the computer is adding total mileage from BKK-MEL-SFO (12,400mi) and referring to the award chart (80k) and adding 5k, resulting in 85k total miles to redeem.
Check on American. If it’s on American it’s usually good. I booked F from IAD to AUH for two people so it is available.
Two things to keep in mind. TK and EY have a lot of married segments so searching separately will just have you frustrated.
2. Do not expect any customer service from Aeroplan. If youraward flies as booked, no problem. Schedule changes or needing an agent for any reason... problems.
Cancel fees are per person per direction. So you may be looking at $600 for a couple.
I'm trying to change the date of an existing stopover booking. It was originally SFO-DXB-HRE. I've flown SFO-DXB. They're saying that the change will be 45K points. That's the same cost as a new ticket. I have a feeling they're not pricing this as a stopover. Any solutions? They say that's what their computer says..

I'm trying to book a flight from Auckland to Montreal with a stop-over in Indonesia. It looks like it is feasable since I'm not backtracking too much. Is it? I can't seem to book on aeroplan website nor can I book the direct flight from Auckland to Bali (with New Zealand Airlines which I know exist). Any helps appreciated. Thanks!
I tried the tip of booking the main segment (SIN-EWR) online and calling the contact center to add another segment (HAN-SIN) to create an itinerary with a stopover. Even though HAN-SIN shows 6 seats available on the several dates that will work, no agent has been able to join the HAN-SIN and SIN-EWR into a single booking.
Curiously, SGN-SIN-EWR with a stopover works. Any idea how to make HAN-SIN-EWR happen?
