Ford's Thoughts On Visiting The Arctic
It all began when SAS opened up business class award space between Los Angeles and Stockholm on their new daily flight… Ben seized the opportunity to try it and asked if I’d care to join. We could finally (it’s been a dream of mine for years) go to Russia for St. Petersburg’s White Nights. Would…

Thanks Ford. Great piece. I visited northern Norway earlier this year in the depths of winter and 21 hours of darkness to see the Northern Lights. Your piece makes me want to return further north to experience the Arctic - but in summer.
Here are my thoughts on the Northern Lights:

I would think both the Artic and Antarctic regions would be amazing to visit. Nice write up.
I'm trying really hard to make this a snark-free Wednesday ... but my resolve is weakening
The landscape is spectacularly beautiful in the winter - especially if coinciding with the solar storms.
This was a great write-up, thanks Ford. This place is now high on my bucket list.
Ford,
Once again another well written and informative piece. Nice pictures as well.
Keep posting. ( you hear that Benny?)

Thanks to both you and Ben for the write-ups. I've been intrigued by Svalbard for a number of years thanks to the polar bears. Seeing these photos increases my resolve even more to make it up there one day.
@David - we only hate posts which are bland and useless... This a refreshing and actually interesting post!
Ford:
Great post! I hadn't even heard of Longyearbyen before Ben mentioned it a few months back, so to read this review was fascinating. It sounds like you had a fun trip! Thanks for sharing.

Susan: Please QUIT pumping your blog here and on Gary's VFTW with your mindless pap.
Interesting report. I like the idea of being at the end of the earth and the time capsule place but not so keen on the 24 hour daylight. No polar bears in sight?
Great post, Ford! Glad you enjoyed Norway 🙂
Keep up the good work!
(I am struggling to understand why haters spend so much time reading and commenting on a blog they evidently don't like......)
So what was different in this review compared to the one lucky wrote... Absolute nothing.
@ Kyle -- So what was different in this comment compared to every other troll comment you've left? "Absolute" nothing.
This is well written and I enjoyed reading it. Keep up the Ford posts! I like that you were able to be open minded once you got there and saw the beauty in a place you didn't think you would like.
Good post, I appreciate it. Don't pay attention to the haters..it is so easy for them to spew hate behind a keyboard..wimps.
