Ethiopian Airlines Offers Planes & Pilots To South African Airways

Ahh we love Ethiopian Airlines

I think a Major Investor could restart them, and even make them profitable, at the cost of ruthless cash management which would alienate/anger the people who stuck with the airline through its troubles. Whether a Major Investor willing to tackle that kind of mega-stress exists is another matter.

I hold hope for SAA, but do not look for it.

If I were Ethiopian, this would be my opening gambit. If SAA can’t get its legacy issues solved, my second move would be to create a holding company in South Africa, 49% owned by ET and 51% owned by a friendly South African conglomerate. The holding company would then start a new airline (South African Airlines?), with planes, pilots, etc., leased from Ethiopian.

No, SAA will not survive in any format. It’s time for SAA to become part of South Africa’s history. It’s legacy:
1. Gross Mismanagement by delinquent CEO’s and interference by SA government.
2. Rampant corruption and theft by scrupulous third-party tender intrapreneurs colluding with certain SAA managers.
3. The SA Treasury have squandered countless Billions in ZA Rands to keep bailing a failed enterprise.
4. There is no more money to sustain the resurrection of SAA in any form or format.

There is nothing left and no more deals to be done as a state-owned flag carrier as the South African Government will not accept ET’s offer to provide their own pilots and aircraft, failing which…this is a waste of time, money and pixels.

ET phone home and move on…SAA is a carcass and no miracle or divine intervention will cause a Lazarus resurrection.

The entire African continent leaders should come to point of realization that corruption and swindling of public fund will never bring any development.
Hand over SAA to a private Company today and watch the story.
