The route will never operate. Eastern announces routes and drops them quickly or never starts them.
Aren't China US routes the ones where you can only add one from a US carrier if a Chinese carrier also adds one, so it's the same number on both sides?
I imagine plenty of US carriers are hungry to add more routes to China and are hampered by that. How is Eastern going to jump the queue?
I wondered the same thing. I have no idea how this airline stays in business. Maybe a couple uber rich people that like the idea of owning an airline?
They fly many DoD charters and must have the one scheduled route to be able to do that. They also fly sports charters.
What give new airlines has starter after 2020 and are doing fine whats going on with eastern .

In 2022 my wife and I flew an Eastern Airlines B767-300 charter MIA-USH round trip. What a bunch of clowns. With the possible exception of the first few rows, the aircraft had very tight seating, no IFE, and no power ports. Never again.
@Ben: you say in order to fly government charters, Eastern needs to maintain a certain minimum schedule. However, Omni Air International also operates government charters but has no scheduled flights, as far as I know.
Please quit using the Eastern Airlines name. It is still beloved to many of us who were once lucky enough to work there during its prime.
