Copa Airlines' Starlink Wi-Fi Goes Live... But It's Not Free For Most Passengers?!?

Copa is TRASH!!!! They use to be a very good airline but have basically become a budget carrier and watered down their product as much as possible. However, they are much better than Avianca, and have a very convenient network, so they are able to capture a wide audience.

Basically they are doing everything they can to penny pinch and extract money from the traveling public.

At least they're not pulling the US/EU legacy carrier PR schtick of claiming that making people pay for it is per their request for "more choice".

Speaking of lie-flat, they’re one of the few airlines that actually has some lie-flat (2-2) on their 737s. I wish more airlines did. There’s no reason AA, AS, DL, UA, etc. couldn’t install a similar seat for premium cabins, especially when they operate 5+ hour redeyes. Lie-flat is superior to recliners, WiFi or not. (But, also, all airlines should provide reliable WiFi. It’s 2026. The technology is there. It’s a choice, and many are just being cheap about it.)

Way more of a US-thing for corporations to lie, cheat, and steal from consumers; the EU at least tries to regulate and protect consumers, though no place is perfect, and even then can, should, and do occasionally improve.

Agreed and it is unusually generous with booking classes eligible for accumulation on fidelity programmes other than their own.

For all that they may be pushing for free internet on planes, Starlink is apparently hosing their residential and commercial customers who live in high-demand areas, imposing "demand surcharges" of up to $1500.
