Avelo Airlines has just launched a new annual membership program, offering some perks in exchange for a fee. Maybe this is worth it if you fly Avelo frequently, but I can’t say that I’m terribly impressed, on the surface.

Yes, it seems like a good deal if you're going to fly them at least 6-8 times a year. I suspect the airline is going after people that fly once every 1-2 months. Seems you'd get more than what AA would provide as a GLD AAdvantage member.
Miles and More is doing status match with ITA Volares without any limits. Any ITA Volares members even status matched members can get Miles and More Senator, provided they have executive or premium status

Not yet - they’re going to use the revenue from this to get ETOPS qualified for that.
I wonder how big of a savings the fares are. Nice to get priority boarding, I guess? I’ve gotten more than 3x the value of my Spirit Savers Club membership this year but about 1/3 of my 50 flights have been on NK. Like you said if you fly Avelo a lot it’s probably a good value and it’s a smidge cheaper than NK’s SC.
Avelo is a disaster. They abandoned our family and 1/3rd of a flight last month at IAD because they literally couldn't tell us what gate the plane was at. Signage said one gate yet the plane was actually at another. Avelo customer service didn't even know where the plane was. PA announcements looking for Avelo reps -- crickets.
Of course, since they're not a real airline, they wouldn't rebook onto another flight and have refused to reimburse for our replacement travel. They were kind enough to offer to put us on their next flight -- 3 days later!
Absolute disaster and joke of an airline.

Apart from the politics, Avelo is not like Frontier, and most of their flights don't even run daily. Their focus is on leisure markets.
I think you want to build a more reliable schedule for now. You can't commit to this kind of program, if you don't know Avelo will continue on any particular route or even cities in a few months. If they can just close down the whole West Coast operation, who knows what will get cut next!
Those planes seem to be real. You can literally insert any airline and this could've happened
Not even 6-8 times a month is necessary. I got the membership and booked my flight to punta cana. Saved me and my wife $185 bucks total for RT. And it's only the first part of the membership, more to be added to their loyalty program
