Air New Zealand’s New Business Class: First Routes Revealed

AIR Nz CEO also advised that the 7 company owned 777-300ER would be a new business class product
This is also clearly articulated in their 2025 interim report ( 777-300ER listed for upgrades in late 2026 through to early 2027 and will remain in the fleet at least until 2032

As a Kiwi I rarely fly NZ. Unless you live in Auckland you need to transit somewhere anyway. So if flying to Asia I'm better off flying QF or CX. Better service and consistently cheaper.

Air NZ, what were you thinking? You keep an outdated seating far too long. It is so bad, it's a deal breaker. Then, you look around, see what everybody else is doing, and produce a less-than-state-of-the-art product. I can fly you or UA between, say, SFO and AKL, and you want to bring a newer, lesser product?

It is kinda sad.

I have a real soft spot for Air NZ - I love their brand, their quirkiness, the way they innovate.

Yet, their innovation seems to have been their undoing. Instead on focusing on 'skycouch' and areas for bunk beds in economy where people can buy slots for four hours at a time they should have been working on getting the basics right like their premium hard product.

I really don’t like reverse hearing bone as my feet are too big and it’s hard to sleep on ones side. I honestly don’t see the big difference between hearing bone and reverse hearing bone. If anything Hearingbone gives you more privacy if you plan to work/ watch something in your iPad as everyone else in the cabin can’t see as they walk past your seat.

I really like the new Air New Zealand cabin. Especially the Business Class Premier Luxe. What I am also looking forward to is see it fly to Brisbane (BNE), San Francisco (SFO), Rarotonga (RAR) and Vancouver (YVR).

Too little (herringbone, no doors for most seats) and too late (they've had those ghastly old seats for ages now). Cathay Pacific, Singapore and Qatar and even Delta are better choices to NZ. Pity, rooting for these guys.

how do we find out what planes have been changed

Well, never particularly happy to fly through the US, but definitely not doing it in the next three years, I don't have a lot of options from Eastern Canada, so this is sounding very promising. Especially since the new cabins are already on the Vancouver route

I don't think so. You can always sell business class, but if you can upsell seven a few economy seats, you win. I think economy passengers will love bunk beds.
