Quick correction: Aer Lingus did launch Dublin to Minneapolis in summer 2019. It was cut in May 2020.

I'm a Dublin based, frequent Aer Lingus transatlantic flier.

All four of my transatlantic flights with Aer Lingus in the last two months have included announcements that you're not allowed to film/photo the crew or their operational procedures. Be warned Lucky for your next review.

Their IT systems are archaic. You can't change anything online once you've booked it, including changing seats. Have to call their dreadful call center, which takes an average of 45 minutes on hold and you're lucky if the operator has a clue what to do without your guidance. Their twitter account is fairly responsive though.

I had a throne seat booked and at check in was given a different seat and told the throne seat was booked by someone else, despite me showing them my booking. Ended up being a Z list Irish celebrity sitting in my throne seat.

Upon landing in ORD from DUB last month, I went to the United lounge (their partner and who I had a connecting flight with) and was told I couldn't use the lounge because Aer Lingus don't pay for it upon arrival. Check-in agent in Dublin had told me I could.

I made a mistake booking my flight, but since it was to US, I could cancel within 24 hours for full refund, which I did. Two months later, I'm still waiting for all of it to be refunded, 80% has been, remaining 20% hasn't.

If connecting to a United flight, Aer Lingus put their own dark green biz class tag on the luggage, which United's baggage handlers clearing don't recognize as priority, because my luggage consistently comes out with all the coach class bags, long after the bright colored United priority bags comes out.

But, it's just about worth all their hassles, once you know to expect it, because I do love being on board, Aer Lingus are consistently friendliest staff out there, food is solid and once you board in the US, you feel like you're already in Ireland.

I don't like flying DUB to USA. The security situation is terrible because they do not have Precheck.

Still good to see some other cities back, I had LAX booked for Feb but they pushed the launch back.

It is a shame they've cut the secondary cities. Would've liked to see some new routes - Denver and LAS in particular, the latter was close to happened a few years ago.

Eliminating BOS-MAN doesn't mean that some other carrier (AA or B6) plans to fly the route. Certainly not in 2022. But in 2023 some carrier will be on that route, I do believe.

The hartford flights should be brought back. They ran almost everyday during the summer and now you’re not bringing them back. Wheres the logic with that? You had a three year agreement with Connecticut. Not to mention you moved terminals in Boston and it’s a complete disaster. No parking and the delays in the baggage area for pick up is over an hour wait.

Is sad to see that they will not be flying to Miami.
Hopefully American would pick up that route.

I find it wonderful that Aer Lingus is joining the pricing "Cartel" with AA, BA, IB and AY when they do not even offer their passengers full (or even partial, AFAIK) Oneworld benefits...

Or is there any update on that ?

Fabulous news that the nonstop Seattle—Dublin route will return! In the past I always appreciated taking that route; it sure beat having to transfer either in the USA or in Europe to get Seattle—Dublin.

MAN was never a substitute for SNN - that story was speculation and local hysteria. It is possible that sime of the other DUB cut routes may return as Aer Lingus can be slow on route announcements. It is also possible that MAN flights need the aircraft capacity cut from DUB?

What do you mean they don't have Precheck? Have you actually used DUB or SNN for fl7ghts to the US? Most Aer Lingus flights to the US arrive there as domestic flights.

It is very disappointing that the Hartford flights will not be restored. This was a full flight anytime I travelled and a lot of Connecticut people used this flight as a stepping stone to further European travel. I have heard so much talk about people wishing the flights would resume. What is the reason behind not continuing to offer this as a destination ? I thought Aer Lingus had a commitment to the State of Connecticut ! Is there a chance we could resume in 2023 ??

Can't get a refund for our flights to Minneapolis which were cancelled due to covid. And now you have stopped that route. So I am forced to take an extra trip in order to use them.

Dublin Airport security is top notch, moves quickly, especially in Terminal 2, where the transatlantic flights leave from. Can't remember ever having to wait more than 10 minutes.

I'm particularly not happy with this company as they sold me "discount" tickets from Hartford to Dublin to Lisbon for November 2020 when they weren't flying out of Hartford any more. When I attempted to get reimbursed for the $1400 the company stated these tickets had no value! That's for sure. Not happy here. Hartford school bus driver.

I'm not sure how big their commitment to Connecticut was to begin with . Governor Malloy bent over backwards (and then some) in order to convince Aer Lingus to even come here.

Extremely disappointed the Hartford-Dublin flights won't return. Used it twice a year pre-COVID, after years of endless frustration with the US Majors flying BDL via their hubs in NY, Atlanta. Every single time they seemed to cancel/delay the US domestic flight, so I'd miss the international segment to Europe.

Hartford was originally launched almost 5 years ago on the basis of a $5 million grant from Connecticut state funds. Given it's position between NY and Boston it was never going to be anything other than another option for both cities. Minneapolis hopefully will return in 23. Montreal will be served by Air Canada in 22.

SWF (Newburgh) would be the ideal airport for a small airport market. It has a vast catchment area and norwegian proved it could work .. with 2 daily flights to Dublin.

Many would use such a route and Dublin would benefit, but when travelers have to go 80 to 130 miles to major airport, then Dublin ultimately, and Ireland as a whole misses out.

Missed opportunity Aer Lingus!!

I am bitterly disappointed that Aer Lingus is not resuming the Hartford Dublin flight. It was such a gift to our region and made getting to Ireland and continental Europe so hassle free. Now Boston and JFK, with all the traffic airport congestion and long lines inside and outside terminals, have again become a feature of travel for those of us in the Northeast who regularly fly to Ireland and the continent. Please, please bring the Hartford flight back.

I am disappointed that the DUB - MSP flight was the first to be cancelled. In all my lifetime, this would be the first time that I could fly directly without having to fly somewhere else first from Dublin to Minneapolis to visit my family there. In fact, I would have used that route for the first time in summer 2020. Now it's back to first flying from Dublin to whatever place else, wait for hours there and then get on a cramped plane with bad service to get to Minneapolis. And I am getting too old to enjoy that. Really disappointed.

The best think Aer Lingus ever did was have flights from Hartford to Dublin!! It made travel so much easier for so many. The flights were often full. Now we have to add hours on our trips to travel from Boston or New York. It definitely puts a damper on traveling. We are so disappointed on the cancellation of this route. Please bring it back!!!

Disappointed to see the MSP route being cut. This would've been the very first time that I would be able to go from Dublin to Minneapolis on a direct flight. You can't even book a flight to Minneapolis on their website, which used to be possible even before they added Minneapolis to their routes. Funnily enough you can book a flight to New Orleans, which has never been an Aer Lingus route. Suppose I don't get to use the voucher I got for the cancelled Minneapolis flight from summer 2020 and Aer Lingus just stole 850 quid from me.

Sad to read that the MSP to DUB route will not be reinstated. That flight was surprisingly profitable according to crew members I spoke about the route. Each time I flew that direct route the plane was 85-90% occupied. If I had known the route would not be reinstated, then I would have asked for my funds back and not a voucher.

Very disappointed that the Bradley-Hartford to Dublin flights will not be available in 2022. They were such a gift. Being able to avoid the arduous hassle of flying from JFK or Boston was a dream. I went to Ireland every year then. Now, I shall be rethinking. I have many friends who are equally disappointed.

Too bad about the Bradley-Dublin route not being reinstated. This was such a convenient and popular option for many in the Connecticut and Western Massachusetts areas. Saves so much time and expense compared to flying out of Boston or New York. Hope Aer Lingus reconsider for their next schedule.

The BDL to DUB flights were great. I took multiple personal and business flights to Europe (Dublin, London, Paris, and Vienna) from BDL on Are Lingus. So much more convenient than JFK. I will have to rethink my personal travel if I have to go to JFK instead of BDL. For business, I am still forced to go to JFK, but JFK has tons of flights to Europe, unless I am going Ireland, I doubt I will fly them out of JFK.

I have to go back to England several times over the last few years which has meant either train to Boston or driving the horrid trip to a NY airport. The Bradley flight was always very good and the airport in my mind better than either Boston or NY. Lasy I heard is "might be 2023" with the new parking etc location surely and trans-Atlantic flight of any sort from CT is a must.

It's unfortunate that such a great flight option for Hartford to Dublin started in 2016 and effectively ended in 2020 with the pandemic and business rethinking. The route seemed well utilized by New England travelers and I was looking forward to taking it again in 2023.

Please bring back the Hartford to Dublin flight. I regularly flew it 2-4 times a year and now am stuck flying out of Boston which is horrible. My family in London also used it 1-2 times a year to fly here and picking them up in Boston is also horrible.

Please, please come back to Bradley/Hartford. It is a great service to all in area and could be marketed as the great time saver it is as an option to JFK/Boston, for so many European cities.

Loved the flight from Hartford to Dublin and it opens up to Europe. Please bring back the Hartford to Dublin route!

Our family was planning to use Aer Lingus out of Hartford next summer--2023. I hope it's back by then. We need that flight in central CT

Yes we are chewing at the bit to return to the UK and Ireland. But without Aer Lingus operating out of Bradley I am afraid we will not be doing it this year. Please return to CT!

I agree with posters. Boston is not as easy to get to for those of us unwilling to drive from Western MA or CT. I used the Bradley route several times and want to use it again! I even added a few days stay in Dublin!! It's really missed for the region. I just flew Aer Lingus and it appeared staff weren't sure if Bradley flights would return. I will probably look for another route from Hartford to Washington to EU on United if need be.

For years leading to ‘Covid’ closure, I flew AerLingus’, “fully booked” jet direct to/from Bradley-Hartford and Dublin and “avoided” 3+hour highway gridlock to JFK or Boston airports. To me, this deletion is horrid. Flying AerLingus was sheer pleasure with excellent service. Vacations in beautiful Ireland were “easy” to achieve.

For everyone who has been hoping that Aer Lingus would bring the Hartford-Dublin route back...some good news. The Hartford Courant is reporting that Aer Lingus is bringing back the BDL-DUB flight seasonally from March 26, 2023 through October - at which point AerLingus will evaluate the passenger numbers and decide whether to make the flight year-round. Flights will be operated on the A321Neo and are already bookable.
