Welcome To The OMAAT Team, Steph!
Over the past several weeks we've introduced two new contributors -- James and Spencer -- and today I'm excited to introduce a third new contributor. Please welcome Steph to the blog, who wrote one of our most popular guest blog posts ever, about her adventures booking a SkyMiles award ticket on China Eastern. Not only…

look forward to reading your posts. might not be the full purpose of this blog but i will be excited to read about some of the international treks and adventures you've had. the pictures in this post look very scenic and secluded (places that I personally would enjoy), i assume they are from steph's personal travels.
Welcome Steph! I was hoping you'd get the gig. I love your writing style, and also am interested in more nature-centered adventures!
@Andy - Thank you and yep, personal travels. In chronological order: Lalibela, Ethiopia; Dead Sea, Israel; Somewhere over the North Pole (okay, I'll admit, this one came from the media library); Inca Trail, Peru; and climbing near Mammoth, CA
@James Thank you and nice to "meet" you! I'm so impressed with your knowledge base and rate of posting. Seriously, you're a machine.
@Billiken - Thank you! I spend far more time at war with the road than I do on mountaintops, but look forward to weighing in with perspectives on both.
@ Steph – honestly – you’ll get quicker! I bashed out 2 articles in an hour on a train in Germany today!
I haven’t flown long-haul economy in six years since discovering this blog but do miss out on plenty of cheap flight deals because I just can’t bring myself to travel long-haul economy for that amount of time.
If you feel like writing a post with tips to survive it I would be very grateful!
Dang. The family guest writer with all the numbers in his (or was it a she?) article gets no love 🙁
Really liked that one, as a family man myself.
Loved your sense of humor and style in your initial guest post and was hoping you would join the team! Looking forward to reading more adventures from a fellow (girl) road warrior.
Welcome Steph. Can’t wait to see your posts. You are a great storyteller. I don’t take Delta often but I look forward to your trip stories like getting to Machu Picchu which is on my bucket List!
Don't we already have James for ghetto travel? We are really watering things down here. This blog is boiling down to how to get the most out of Ryan Air and daily Chase Sapphire Reserve signup push.
Welcome Steph! I think her entry was the best. And i was wondering why you were not picked initially. Not anymore. Welcome again!
Welcome! Looking forward to reading your posts and learning from your experiences.
Steph,
Welcome to the blog. Great to have the perspective of a fellow business traveler on the site.
Welcome Steph I loved your guest post it was fantastic I am sure you will bring some valuable content.
I call ‘me like I see ‘em! Steph is a welcome addition! I enjoy her sense of humor!
Look forward to future articles!
Welcome, Steph - great to have a yet another different approach/viewpoint on the blog. Really look forward to reading your articles.
Steph congratulations and looking forward to seeing a fellow climber post about outdoor travel adventures. Nice summit pic to end the post!
Great views in those pictures! Where were they taken?
I'm looking forward to reading more.
Welcome Steph! Even if you write about seemingly ordinary trips, like Seattle-JFK or LaGuardia-Atlanta or checking in at CVG, that is fine and interesting.
@Lucky--This was the hire I was hoping you'd make. Not only an excellent and distinctive writer, but a great interviewee.
@Steph--Welcome, and I look forward to your posts.
@Sigmund - Hah, likewise! Ben and Tiffany get credit for the photo order on this one, and they nailed it, as always.
@Derek - I'll try to keep things at least a little more interesting (while trying to avoid LGA as much as possible) but those trips can be fun to write about, too, when things go sideways. 🙂
@Spencer - Thanks! I've really been enjoying your posts too.
Everyone else - thank you (really!) for the warm welcome. Looking forward to writing more.
Welcome Steph!
As you can already see, we have our share of negative nellies here...
Ignore them (seriously, IGNORE THEM), you do you, and we look forward to reading your contributions!
I'd LOVE to read a detailed rental car insurance comparison piece. And can someone figure out the deal with liability insurance in the U.S.? (I don't own my own car, but rent frequently. I know Chase coverage takes care of damage to the rental car itself...but what happens if I have a fender bender with another vehicle?
Can I make a suggestion? When you include cool photos, please state directly under the photo where it was taken. Steph has two really cool photos here (the one where she is standing on rock slightly raised above water and the last one where she is sitting on a rock with an awesome back drop).
I would love to know where those were taken.
Good to know that another female was added, considering that prior to Steph’s addition there was only one female—Tiffany—contributor. Hopefully with Steph’s addition, it will open the door to be more inclusive at OMAAT. As of today, all contributors are white. Just a constructive critic.
@Steph - welcome and looking forward to the diversity that you will bring to this blog.
Just another adventure and adrenaline seeking globe-trekker looking forward to experiences from another.
There are quite a few of us who are freelance writers and photographers for NG, CNT and the Alpinist perusing this site and are thrilled by your addition.
@Jared - so cool! If any of you climbers are ever in the Northeast and want to rope up, I'll give you a tour of the Gunks (assuming I'm not, you know, halfway around the world.)
I'll take you on on that offer! FYI - we are planning a Denali summit ascend in mid-Dec.
