Siari, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve Resort In Riviera Nayarit, Mexico, Now Open

For the life of me, I don't understand why Marriott has two Ritz-Carlton brands: Ritz-Carlton and Ritz-Carlton Reserve. In my experience, you have to stay at a Ritz-Carlton Reserve to reserve the kind of service that you used to get at a Ritz-Carlton.

Gonna have to agree with you. Had such a bad stay at the Ritz Carlton Melbourne that it swore me off the brand entirely. And a stay before that at the Ritz Tokyo didn’t impress, but nothing was wrong specifically.

Idk, this beautifully designed paradise seems totally comparable to the Niseko Holiday Inn whoops I mean RC Reserve. Yay for brand consistency!

What the hell do I want to go to a place like Mexico? SnKes scare the hell out of me. I'm sort of scared about going there, but the wife is really nervous. I just see myself un a pot of boiling water with all these natices dancing around me.

I liked the Tokyo RC. Great location. Stayed there in the last year for around a week. We had club level rooms and found the service exemplary and all round thought it was one of the better hotels we've stayed at.

Quite liked the Kapalua RC too - was there during the (now sadly canceled) PGA tournament and despite it being rammed and the weather being less than tropical, found the club room service first rate. Better than most of the Maui hotels. Some charm and judicious tips to our club host and we were the beneficiaries of several bottles of Mondavi To Kalon during our evenings in the club - way better than the grapeslop most hotels foist on their customers. Pre covid mind, not been there for a while. There's likely a hit to their cache going forward with the ridiculous local governance/environmental clownshow causing the loss (likely permanent) of a high prestige international event and another sorry blow to the suffering island economy.

how many of the rooms have plunge pools?

@99 let's be clear - club level rooms across all Ritz Carltons are a very different experience than standard rooms. You might as well be in a different hotel.

I'm aware, of course. But part of what makes RC stand out vs other brands at that level is the club level. In my case, the choice of staying there was swayed by having that (expensive but imo worth it) amenity.

For example, I looked at and considered Tokyo Andaz/Grand Hyatt (for the Pokémon suite) in similar proximity and decided with my budget the RC was the best option. I don't know if I would spend money there otherwise (the mall downstairs with extensive food, grocery, and subway access, was a strong selling point also)

One of the worst RC is in Kuala Lampur. I would rather stay at the JWM adjacent to RC KUL. I love to use the RC Benefits I get via RC credit card just not the High priced "Club Level".
