A few years ago, Marriott Bonvoy eliminated award charts and hotel categories, and switched to dynamic award pricing. While award pricing can vary, Marriott does still have a secret award chart, and I want to take an updated look at that, in light of the recent devaluation that we saw.

It turns out you don't even need to check the category of a Marriott hotel. Of the more than a dozen hotels I checked yesterday, none of them changed their categories since the last time Marriott published them (prior to "dynamic pricing").

Try viewing the page source on the hotel's home (overview) page after viewing the rooms listing. The old method would only show Category 0.

I tried the hotel's home page and it displays no category.

You need to go to the room’s listing page first and then click on the hotel’s logo which should open a new tab to the hotel’s homepage. Then, view page source from the homepage on the new tab.

Just going straight to the homepage without doing the previous steps seem to be the reason why it doesn’t work.

I understand the increasing award levels per category to a point - prices are going up, and with points earning tied to dollars spent the average points earned per stay should be going up. I am however preparing to dump Marriott CCs that have annual free night certs unless the value of those certs begins to keep up with these increases.
