I've had ambassador status since before Bonvoy was the loyalty program. This is a useless benefit for those who aren't married or don't have a traveling partner/companion. I'd rather Marriott actually fix what's wrong with their program. There is virtually no difference in tangible benefits between the platinum and ambassador levels.

Plus, granting status to a spouse mollifies the spouse who is left at home whilst the road warrior is on business.
I disagree it's a useless benefit for those who aren't married. Surely there are people in your life who could benefit from this. My parents are recently retired and travel often; I would actually see more value in gifting my status to them instead of my wife who pretty much only travels as a companion of mine.
UA has a similar benefit when you reach MM status, allowing you to gift Gold status to a family member. I chose my mother as my beneficiary who again is able to take advantage of things like priority boarding or international lounge access.
hard fail for segmenting ambassador. either have a tier and treat them all equally, or create a new tier for added benefits. this segmentation is going too far and i'm tired of it
well, it's 2025, i just add my college roommate and best friend as my plus one and that works
While the difference in published benefits may be minimal, I find my actual on-the-ground experience as an Ambassador to be significantly better than as a Titanium. While it's not true for every property, the upgrades are overall far more frequent. There's thoughtful gifts in the room at checkin. My Ambassador takes care of minutea that would otherwise be banished to Titanium general email bitbucket.
I haven't tried to use Your24 (8 AM checkin with 4 PM checkout is usually better for me), but I can definitely feel the difference between the two levels.
(I'll caveat that with I repeat geography and generally know which properties appreciate status and preferentially book them.)
