hertz has a long history of falsely reporting to police that vehicles are stolen and the police in the usa being beholden to corporate interests arrest and send legitimate hertz renters to jail. some renters are in jail for months because of the bureaucracy and inefficient government in the self-proclaimed greatest country on earth. the usa does not provide compensation for people who are held in jail but later released without charges.
Nope, don't see the point in "upgrades" for a car rental program when every agency uses a completely different set of makes and models for their cars. It's just a way to get from point A to B before you give the car back to the agency.
I'd never rent from Hertz again after the aforementioned "false stolen car" issue. They've lost my trust because of it.
I find Hertz more efficient and better staffed than Avis/Budget or Dollar/Thrifty. Havent had significant issues with them and rent frequently. Not sure if I place much value on having Hertz status vs just being gold.
Hertz President's Circle status is valuable if you rent from Hertz often; but if you rent from Hertz often, you are most likely President's Circle. 15 rentals or $3,000 isn't difficult as the prices of rentals continue to be high. The recent work weekly rentals average $300 - $500. 5-10 rentals and status...
The absurd comments about issues with Hertz are not limited to Hertz. Don't leave the lot without a rental agreement. Don't leave the lot without a receipt.
The absurd comments about issues with Hertz are not limited to Hertz.
so are the comments absurd, or are they legitimate? no other rental agency has ever had the false reporting problem, more accurately described as sending your customers to jail problem. even after accounting for the fact that Hertz is the largest agency--why didn't the company take swift action to resolve the problem after the very first occurrence? the answer is lack of corporate ethics and thus Hertz should not be patronized.
Junky cars, false police reports, being arrested at gunpoint and jail--what's not to like? Sign me up!
Richard, which other rental car companies file false police reports on their customers? Which of them do so as frequently as Hertz?
Marriott Ambassador status? No. Ambassador status in your local jail? Yes, if Hertz has you arrested often enough.
Nope, it a cost effective way to make customers feel good and valued.
You always get upgraded, at least in America.
I find it harder to drive out with an economy car than a full size car, even when I book the cheapest car or specify an economy car. Out of my dozen tries, I've managed to rent a Chevrolet Spark only once.
While Hertz is notorious for the "false stolen car", another actor in play should not be forgotten too, the law enforcement officers. I would say most of the time the officers who responded acted very professionally, that's why we didn't hear about Hertz's false accusation that often.
It's when you escalate the situation that the issue gets attention. Escalation from trivial facts like Puerto Rico.
Hey now. You'll have the best Nissan Altima or Nissan Juke money can rent. XD
I tried registering so I get upgraded to the hertz five star status since i am a Bonvoy Titanium member. It’s been 3 weeks and my status has not changed. Does anyone know how long does the it take?
