For the first segment of my trip of downgrades, suspensions, and delays, I flew Lufthansa’s A350 Allegris first class from Newark to Munich. Prior to my flight, I had the chance to check out the Lufthansa Lounge Newark (EWR). This is also where I met up with my dad, as I was coming from Miami,…

I think Ethiopia is also in B and Star Alliance Ben. Interestingly they have an earlier flight so I wonder if those passengers are out of luck on a lounge.

I was laughing at the Jim Beam old-fashioned cocktail being offered in business class lounge. Then I saw it was also being offered in the first class lounge. How amazingly super premium.

The recent Wendover video on Newark was pretty well done, and even that could not fully illustrate just how awful EWR is. I realize terminal B is the stinkiest of the garbage heap, but even the new terminal A sucks.

I think it would be funny if 3/4 of the F part of the lounge were roped off and not able to be used because it hadn't passed Newark city regulatory approval yet.

Well, it is better than the Swissport lounge at O'Hare...

But seriously, what abuot this is first class? Nothing. An AA Flagship lounge has better dining options.

Lufti is a very ordinary airline. I'm mystified as to why anyone ever expects them to be something more.

They probably get it for $10 a bottle in exchange for prominence on the list. Still more than it's worth.

Be greatful the Newark Lounge lacked pretzels!

Yesterday I flew home from Germany to the States in Buissiness Class (United Economy on the last leg) and the pretzels at the Berlin and Frankfort Lounges (and with the second meal service on the plane in Buissiness Class) were excellet! the tiny cut-up morsel of what was labeled as a Bulvarian Pretzel in the Washington Lounge was awful. T

his lounge I had to access on my Priority Pass, after finding out no lounge access when getting off Lufthansa Bossiness Class to connecting to United Economy for a domestic connection. This feels insane to me, I have no Star Alliance status. I first Tried the United Club after clearing customs and immigration in the falling part connections area of the awful and temporary but older than me Concourse C. There was a sign saying no priority passes were being accepted in the Luftansa but the check-in agent took pity on me I was connecting to United Express out of A so it wasn't that out of the way.

Lufthansa is just so astonishingly mediocre.

Spending $10m on this lounge is a bad sign, indicates the terminal B is going away any time soon

On a different topic of *A lounges.

UC HKG is near opening. Was recently there and they expect to open in a few weeks.

Let's see if this will be better than the SQ cave. With TG permanently gone (hello Chase), this would be a nice addition.

Lounge yes, First Class dining options no. Those are reserved for LH/LX customers, as they are in MUC/ZRH/FRA

If you are Star Gold but flying domestically or not in Polaris business for a long-haul flight -- - and therefore cannot access the Polaris lounge - this lounge still has a more premium feel than the United Clubs in C and A. But you might have to reclear security - which can be annoying an time consuming.

One of the best lounges in the world.

Especially with the loner island table in the F dining section.

Looks great!

You did not mention that LH Group Frequent Travellers (Silver) have access to the lounge as well.

Agree. Makes no sense when they have a Vision Plan already. But I guess they realize nothing will move forward until a change in administration because of a lack of federal funding.

BA spent $65 million on renovating JFK T7 just two years before leaving it to join AA in T8... So who knows...

I’m surprised the menu uses Entree for main course. How unfortunately American! Glad there is a separate F option but agree the food seems nothing special. I totally agree that many people overstate how good food is even in F cabins. I suspect many of those people don’t regularly dine at Michelin star restaurants.

Rate your Lufthansa Lounge experience here:

I am not trying to influence you, but I think the variety and presentation of food at the Lounges in Munich and Frankfurt could be better. It’s basically always the same 4 dishes (meat loaf, sausages, couscous, vegetables).

My hope is that this questionnaire has some impact on the Net Promoter Score and will lead to better Lufthansa lounges.

I couldn't agree more regarding your comment about people who praise airport/airplane food was Michelin caliber/quality. I really hate it when people say things like:
-"Michelin star dining" (it was designed by a chef with a Michelin star, but prepared by a kitchen of people who are airport catering line cooks and then reheated in an airplane convection oven after having sit in a cart for multiple hours...the ingredients are probably also cheap bought in bulk items aside from things like PDO cheese and caviar)
-"One of the best meals of my life" (even a fresh cooked meal at a chain Italian restaurant is probably going to be better than a meal prepared in an airplane galley)
-"This wine costs $XXX" (I get it...but also not the only indication of quality)

Bossiness Class? Maybe you don't really belong there, buddy.

Net Promoter Score doesn't make the food taste better or Champagne more expensive.

Not a fan of the American style bathroom stalls with the openings top and bottom. Much prefer Euro-design bathrooms where the stalls are all little rooms.

Simply talking from a design perspective I find Lufthansa lounges to be very cold and sterile. As a German I can really imagine the discussions regarding the design. No that’s to loud, this material is to extravagant, this finish is to shiny. Then you end up with the design equivalent to a Subway Sandwich store with slightly better finishes.
