this is a good but small start for B6 in the lounge business. This is way too small to meaningfully serve the number of potential customers so it will be a very limited benefit.

the bigger theme is that it moves B6 closer to a legacy/global model which is also where WN is likely going.

Exciting news! Honestly the purpose of JetBlue’s lounge network is to drive credit card sign ups.

If JetBlue isn’t providing lounge access while in Europe for mint customers, I really think that is the reason.

Besides credit card customers, I’d imagine this lounge may only reach capacity in the evening during the summer.

I’m impressed. The design looks fab and definitely feels New York. I also understand the grab and go set up vs traditional buffet due to back of house space limitations. Food is already excellent onboard so if their bar selection is strong, I see this as a fantastic product to start. I hope they can get larger real estate in Boston.

Any lounge you get access to with a credit card isn't very exclusive...

The lounge is waaaaay too small. Imagine if JB actually did manage to sell a large number of that terrible JB Premier card, very few of the suckers would be able to actually get into the lounge.

I did a status match last year and was Mosaic 4, flew Mint JFK-LAX several times and the customer service was terrible when issues, and there were always issues.

Count me out.

Looks nice. Long over-due (T5 has needed this for decades). Lame access requirements (should include any Mint, not just TATL). Yes, should be larger. $499 AF card is still a joke. They really need additional lounges, at least at BOS, LAX, FLL, at a minimum. I do still very much like jetBlue and want them to stick around and do well. Will probably check this out in 2026. If you're willing to pay $499 for that 'premium' card, you deserve as much access to this as you want, because, woah, with this being the only lounge, that card is a real clunker, mah man...

I'm also pleased to see jetBlue trying this; I still doubt WN is gonna do the same. Elliott (mis)Management is just extracting profits by taking away 'nice' things (free seats, checked bags, extension of credits, etc.), not necessarily adding 'nice' things (like actual recliners up-front, lounges, etc.) Yet, the irony is that SW's credit card partner (Chase) is giving its high-spenders on the CSR card $500 in SW credit, not UA credit, huh, odd, right?

What lounge in Europe? They'd need to contract with others, because it's not like they have their own at LHR or CDG or AMS, etc. Perhaps, since they've got something goin' on with United, they could buddy-up on some Star Alliance lounges, but, I highly doubt it.

All carriers experience IROPS. Perhaps, we should demand that our elected officials actually pass regulations that ensure we get compensated by airlines when they fail us, like they do in Europe (see EU/UK 261), Canada (APPR), and elsewhere...

Not IROPS. Baggage was supposed to free with the credit card, kept being charged, took hours to find someone who could reverse the charges. Mint check-in at JFK was not pleasant, FAs on the plane were not happy, contrary to every review I've ever seen. I know there are B6 fans, it just wasn't my experience. And if it wasn't my experience in six months as Mosaic 4, it didn't give me a good feeling for what it would be like without status.

The problem this creates is the same problem Delta had for years with Sky Clubs, is that you're offering longhaul business class passengers the same lounge as a credit card lounge, thereby not feeling very exclusive or high enough quality.

I'm surprised the card has unlimited access with a +1 though. That could create severe crowding issues, JetBlue is a very large airline out of JFK and could easily overwhelm this tiny lounge.

Yeah, Eskimo is correct; also, JetBlue Mint tickets include two free checked bags. 'Happy' seems pretty subjective. Were you new to New York? Like, did our 'directness' bother you? Would you prefer the passive aggressivity of the South? Or the laid-back vibes of SoCal? I think I was onto something earlier with 'you cannot be pleased.'

But if there are lines to get in the door, crowded conditions and the staff can't keep up on cleaning and food service what's the point? Yeah maybe if it's free I'd endure but if not I'd find an empty gate. I often do that at PHX after maybe grabbing food because the AA lounges are a zoo.

The one helpful benefit of that card is that it has unlimited Priority Pass restaurants. But other than that, it's not worth the price at all.

I think they made a mistake on the concept. Given the size constraints, they should've made it more like the Capital One Landing at DCA that focuses on good food instead of making it like a traditional lounge. I actually like going to the DCA Capital One Landing more than I like going to their IAD lounge.

Uh, the point is that there's no other lounge at T5... and if they've restricted access to such few passengers, it may not even get crowded... let's be real, who was crazy enough to even open their $499 AF card (next to no one), and the TATL flights are like 24 Mint/flight x3 (LHR, AMS, CDG), if daily, so rarely gonna be more than 100 people, if ever. Can they fit that? Maybe, maybe not.

VK, how many Priority Pass restaurants even still exist? Quick lookup suggests maybe 37ish in the US at around 25 airports. Chase Sapphire Reserve, Amex, and Capital One all lost that benefit. So, I guess, Barclays keeping it, might not last, either.

I like how they lean into the NYC apartment-style, complete with plastic utensils from a DoorDash delivery! It's the little things that just show time and again that JetBlue is so far from ready for major competition. I want them to succeed, but they just shoot themselves in the foot around every corner. And the fact that their Mint menus are still--and have been for years--Italian-ish food just shows the lack of originality. High time for Jayne O'Brien, the person responsible for the onboard product and their utterly lousy marketing to move on.

I could see it getting crowded at Boston if every eligible person goes to the lounge. They'll have daily service in the summer to LHR/LGW, CDG, AMS, DUB, EDI, MAD, BCN, and MXP

AGREED, JD. I particularly love the ceiling in the bar that’s done up to look like GCT. I think the elevator needle is a bit funny with repeating letters but presumably it only accesses two floors.

1990, it's not useful for most flyers - I agree. There are a couple of PP restaurants in Logan, so that benefit would be good for BOS flyers. Davio's is right after Terminal C security. I have a family member in the Boston area who this card may actually be useful for since he is Mosaic 3, flies a lot for work, and frequently buys a to-go meal before the flight instead of going to the lounge - the BOS Chase lounge has long lines.

I think he might be the <10% of people who would break even on the JetBlue Premier Card, but I doubt he'll get it. If JetBlue actually wanted more people to get the Premier, they should replace the Paisley credit with a flight credit, but there's no chance they do that.

Disappointed that Mint transcon don’t get access. That puts them at a disadvantage to Delta and AA

I feel like I'm always rooting for JetBlue, and I'd really love to like this, but... this just doesn't look good at all to me. It looks cheap, will be overrun in seconds (even with the non-transcon access - oof), and the one food picture just looks meh (which is ironic because onboard Mint has great food). Have to start somewhere I guess, but this feels like a swing and a miss.

@VK - Mint already offers great food onboard, so there would be little value in having a lounge with grab-and-go food with limited seating available. Rather, I think one of the important things this lounge needs to do is offer a dedicated space for premium travelers to hang out in away from the terminal. I typically like the C1 Landing concept better too, but I don't think that would be the better option for jetblue.

@JB - Fair points. My main qualm is that they're opening a lounge with the only food being grab & go. I am expecting the coffee and cocktails to be stellar in this lounge since it's good on Mint.

I agree that a traditional lounge is preferable when there's no place for premium travelers to hang out, but I was not sure that this space was a good enough size for that.

"Bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches" are not "New York’s food scene." Can one chef in this country put some thought into breakfast besides the stupid bacon and eggs? I'll take the pastrami at any time.

I appreciate B6 is adding lounges. I would suspect BOS, FLL, & SJU are on the radar scope.

However, I doubt this does much for the long term viability of the airline. As if the airline is running out the clock looking for a partner.

BOS is already in development and part of the plan. I doubt SJU and FLL would though given how low yield they are.

I believe the “grab and go” means grab the pre-plated item you want and enjoy it in the lounge, based on the rules someone posted. I prefer pre-plated snacks in the lounge as it reduces the length of time each person stays at the buffet.

SJU has no airline specific lounge that I am aware of.
B6 could take over the one in its terminal and claim victory. Also, if B6 ever joins an alliance, it could act as a host for that alliance’s airlines at SJU.
As for FLL, there is an existing non-airline lounge in T3 which would be a good fit. If Spirit should fold, might be room in T4. Both T3 & T4 are connected behind TSA security.

Just a side note. Southwest just announced its first lounge in Honolulu.

Eventually, WN (lounges & assigned seating), B6 (lounges), & AS (TALT service) will morph into traditional trunk line status like the Big Three.
