Reykjavik EDITION Hotel Opening October 2021

I visited Iceland for the first time a few weeks ago and was fortunate to experience everything without the crowds. At a few sites sites, we were the only visitors. I really do think that now is the time to visit before overcrowding becomes an issue again.

Was there few weeks ago. There is definitely some crowd at golden circle. But was told it’s nothing compare to few years ago. I would recommend Mývatn Lake area which has similar type of scenery as golden circle without the crowd. Tower Suites has nice finishes but Edition has better location. I would pick Esja suite as view and layout is the best imo if you stay at Tower Suites. Deplar Farm has best pre-arrival service any place I’ve ever been to. Location is beautiful even in overcast weather which is almost everyday in Iceland. If you are traveling with kids, I would pick Grettir suite as online they don’t really tell you there is a loft area with two single beds which is perfect for kids. If you can splurge, stay at Lagoon suite at the Retreat Hotel. The regular blue lagoon closes at 9-10pm. So if you want to swim in a warm lagoon under the stars at 1AM, it’s not possible unless you have a lagoon suite. Other cheaper rooms may look like they have access to lagoon water, those water are cold. It’s for show not for dipping. Dill restaurant has to be booked well in advance. Otherwise check daily as slot do become open last minute. Moss restaurant at Retreat isn’t on par with Dill imo.

This location is out at the boat piers. So a little bit of a walk to the main section of downtown. Google maps shows good walk way along the freeway. But if you want to be in the quaint downtown - this appears to be a little isolated.

I saw a few weeks ago the Edition while they where putting in the last furniture. It will be marvelous… sadly i can‘t put a pic taken in here.
