Review: Hotel Du Louvre Paris, Hyatt Unbound Collection, France (Good!)

Great review, and I appreciate your note that this is a step below your preference, but I have to be honest. Your Paris reviews the last few days are more realistic for many of your readers (I assume). So it is nice you are hitting up lower tier 5-star hotels.

I totally (and you can include me) understand as we move into our late 30s our budgets go up lol, but balancing for the reviews is good.

I stayed there recently for 1 night and loved it (actually I had that same sandwich!). Would definitely stay there again. Personally I preferred it to the Park Hyatt - I'd rather save a few points and avoid those creepy wall sculptures!

Sure ... A small ( 32 cl ) beer for 12 Euros . What a bargain . One gulp and you're out $ 15 .

Stayed here for several nights during the Olympics in 2024. Loved it! Was not able to get any upgrades then and had the smallest 2 twin room with literally 6 inches between beds. Received a nice welcome take home amenity bag full of goodies. Great location, and bottomless mimosas at breakfast. I asked for globalist late checkout and they said no but held my bags and gave me some points back. Metro stop 10ft off the back entrance was super convenient and easy shot to airport.

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying here a few nights last November and loved it. I wasn’t aware (until this article) that the suite to room ratio was favorable and this worked out for us. We were upgraded to a suite immediately upon check-in even though I only have Explorist status. It was an unexpected surprise and one that I didn’t even ask for (didn’t have time to ask!). The gentleman who checked us in was very polite and explained everything important without getting into too much detail. He did kind of sell the breakfast buffet but, he was correct, both in his description and our enjoyment. Every staff member we interacted with was always pleasant and helpful. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

Wish they accepted suite upgrade awards.

I usually stay a week, harder to get complimentary upgrades on week long stays in general.

InterContinental Le Grand is so much better if you are a Royal Ambassador. Staying anywhere else in Paris after the Royal treatment there is a huge disappointment, either because of the inferior room and lack of a club lounge or the exboritant price.

I know you're paying for the location, but it appears that the shower arrangements in the most basic room at the average Ibis Styles are better than the one in this €600-a-night suite.

Or was that €600 for a standard room? I'm struggling to come to terms with the fact anyone's paying a four-figure sum for this!

I still think that hotels like this are extremely poor value. I know there's a cost on everyone's time and a desire to make most of one's days travelling, but you can pay less than €150 for a large standard room, or about €250 for a suite with panoramic views, at the Meliá La Defense which is a really solid upscale hotel.

The difference is, without any exaggeration, more than sufficient to cover the cost of a Michelin-starred tasting menu and the taxi back from the restaurant.

Clearly there are lots of people who disagree with my assessment and that's absolutely fine, but, to anyone who does want to maximise value for money, I would recommend at least considering staying in the slightly less fashionable parts of the city.

I love this hotel and have enjoyed this property and Hotel Bourgone et Montana for over 30 years. Great location (for me) very pleasant staff and a solid dinning experience. I am not a Georges V kind of guy. This is a lovely comfortable place that I always enjoy staying at when I visit my favorite city.

This is a great hotel, in a fantastic location. Stayed here a few times. In cash rates, it's usually fairly reasonable. Yes, the Park Hyatt Vendome is a big tier up in luxury, but for cash prices, there are better hotels nearby IMO, and I rarely see points availability at that property.

For what it's worth, I last stayed here a year ago or so, and had a king room (not a suite) on a higher floor. The furniture felt and looked visibly newer (and much more 'on theme' to the bones of the room) than the furniture in the photos of your suite. Wonder if they are doing a slow floor-by-floor redecoration maybe?

I love the location and the structure of Le Grand, even more than the Hotel du Louvre for sure, but if one is not a Royal Ambassador with Intercon, then the rooms you often get assigned are small (yes, I know the is normal for Paris), and many can be very dated with badly worn furniture and fabrics (they have been working through a very slow renovation for a couple years now, with no end in sight).

I loved this hotel when I stayed there last year (on points). We had a very good sized room with a king bed (IMO nicer than the suite). The location is great, the service was excellent, and dinner in the restaurant was very good. I preferred it to the Park Hyatt.

Looks like we were here at the same time! Been here a week, checking out tomorrow. We loved the hotel but couldn’t agree more on the beds. Our “king” bed was two smaller ones put together and they were not comfortable. Other than that we loved it.

That TV in the bedroom is so hideous!
At least SAX had the TV retractable.

For a suite it seems rather squeezy. Overall, it lacks the wow factor,
and falls into the nice enough catagory.
