OMAAT reader Mike asked me a question about my experience with being a lifetime World of Hyatt Globalist member, and in particular, whether there’s any difference in treatment compared to being a ”standard” Globalist member. He’ll be earning the status soon, and is curious if he can expect a difference in terms of his on-property…

Quick reminder: 1990 advocates for going to Thailand to 'explore different kinds of consent'.

Sickening.

Other than not having to earn status annually very little difference on property.
Even being Diamond and Globalist for decades I would say you may get a better amenity on arrival but that too was especially the case in International properties without lifetime status.I feel also as Globalists massively increased over the past 10 years properties tried reducing quality and size of suites to limit expectations. I used to get 1000 sq foot and up vip suites prior to Lifetime status
I find its more a verbal thing in house with recognition and a little better respect.Even the crappy Hilton program prioritizes Lifetime Diamonds over Diamonds for upgrades.Being a regular at a property has always been more rewarding if I have a positive relationship with a given property.Dropping 10k in a month at a given property gets you way more looked after.Example in one hotel getting room service when breakfast was busy for free and mind you they haven't featured offer room service since Covid

Genuine question for you. How do you know certain benefits that you receive are actually on behalf of being a lifetime Globalist vs by virtue of you being a prominent guest that properties want to impress for positive reviews?

Given that Hyatt does have a concierge system, it wouldn't be very hard for them to track where you're staying and inform properties as such, or for individual properties to know in advance that you're coming since you also announce important review stays on your blog.

For example, getting above standard suite upgrades so frequently just doesn't sound normal, even for a lifetime Globalist, as far as I'm aware.

Given that you're often staying at the higher end Hyatts as well, which would probably have a management team that would flag these things behind the scenes.

Let’s face it’s time goes by these statuses will mean less and less. What to prevent Hyatt from having a higher Globalist Reserve standard like Hilton just did.

It’s enjoy what you do while you can. There is no lifetime guarantee for these earned benefits.
