I stayed two nights at the Palacio Duhau in January of last year and did not find the property or my room to be at all dated. For reference, I was proactively upgraded as a Globalist and my room was located in the back building. Food (breakfast both days and dinner the first night after a late arrival) and service were uniformly good. Only issue I encountered was the interior courtyard being quite buggy at night. The property does seem to draw an inordinate number of complaints, though I’m not sure they’re all in good faith - one Redditor ranted that they expected the hotel to be an actual palace!
Before I forget, since today is Mother's Day, I thought it'd be apropos to wish your mom a Happy Mother's Day too. You mentioned in one of your reports that you made a quick trip home to visit your parents which is plural which I'm glad to hear. I know it's been a rough couple of years for you mom, but she seems to be hanging in there. I wish your mom better days ahead despite the circumstances all the best to you and your family as well.

We just passed the sixth anniversary of my mom's cancer diagnosis, and we've been blessed to have so much more time with her than we were expecting. She is in hospice, and I am spending as much time with her as possible, and am so grateful for all the opportunities I've had with her. I keep trying to make the most of every day. I've visited Mendoza twice over the last 2 years and stayed at the PH Mendoza. While the property and rooms are quite old, it's well maintained and the service is excellent. I'd definitely return.
And don't forget a McDonald's & Starbucks too !! ...while they suck the charm & ambiance dry..., lol
Stayed in the Mendoza Park Hyatt last year and can attest it is, indeed, in need of a renovation. Service and breakfast were excellent but the physical property, while it has tons of potential, is beyond dated.
Park Hyatt Buenos Aires, however, was fantastic.
Agree with your verdict on the Mendoza property, where we've stayed several times on the way to/from Las Leñas. The staff and service are fantastic, but the old girl needs a facelift, for sure.
