During my recent trip, I spent a (very short) night at the Hyatt Regency Belgrade. I didn’t stay at the hotel long enough to be able to fully review the property, but I did want to share some general thoughts.

Totally get why you booked a cat 1 rate for a 4 hour stay, but would love to see a review of the Saint Ten hotel, which seems to have a better location and looks pretty nice.
I agree. The location is unideal, unless you like to walk. There is a cool tram that comes by the hotel, and taking a Yandex (like Uber) to the downtown is super easy + cheap. The concierge at this hotel— Nikola— is awesome! He arranged a same day boat ride, private driver, and behind-the-scenes church tour on short notice for me. I also got a suite upgrade!
I've learned that Hyatt cat 1 hotels usually come with a catch. Alila Bangsar was... an experience. Homeless people sleeping on the walkway to the KL train, 3 elevators to get to your room, poorly-maintained properly despite being 3 years old, razor-thin walls.
The views and IG potential is strong, but I still checked out 7 days early. 😉
Stayed here a few years ago (early 2020 before the pandemic) and enjoyed it. At 5,000 points, it's hard to beat. The club lounge was great with hot food and beer/wine. The only downside is, like you said, the location. It's very easy to get a taxi through the front desk though and they're very affordable - only a few dollars.
Sounds like just what you needed for that short stay. I spent a few days in Belgrade last summer and really enjoyed the city. It’s vibrant and very cheap. I stayed at the Square Nine, which is a boutique and from my research is the city’s best hotel. Very good to know there is a St. Regis coming!
I’ve stayed there too. The Hyatt is in Novo Belgrade in the “new” town close to conference centers and business locations. BUT, I found it relatively easy to walk across the bridge over the river to get to the Old Town. It’s about 15 minutes safe walk to the Belgrade Castle. I love the Hyatt here… the gym and pool are stellar. The restaurants and service are excellent!
This hotel is one of my favorites while driving through Europe to the summer house in Greece. Good food and exceptionally friendly, professional staff. (One time they even agreed to consider our German shepherd a "small puppy" to grant entry (through service corridor.))
We love Hyatt Regency Belgrade! We have had 2 long stays and several shorter ones there in the past few years. The hotel is lovely but what really makes it special are the staff. It is located across the bridge from the main part of the city but it is a quick walk or inexpensive cab ride anywhere you want to go.
We will be back there in a couple of weeks and look forward to enjoying their hospitality once again!
In Belgrade I usually stay at the Metropol Palace which is a Marriott Luxury Collection, mainly because of the much better location. The Metropol is perfectly located and ok as a hotel. But you should moderate your expectations in respect of “Luxury” … it is in Soviet style, but with all the modern amenities.
How is there a Hyatt Regency in Belgrade but no Hyatt Regency in many major US cities?
Actually, the hotel is not far away from the city centre. It's just a short (15 min) walk away across the bridge. Or you can take a bus 95 (two stops) to the Zeleni venac Square (which is just the corner from the Republic square) or even a tram which can take you to the Old Railway station (three stops), where is the infamous Belgrade Waterfront and a future St Regis hotel in the Belgrade Tower is not far away from it.
I stayed at this hotel recently for a week and couldn’t be more pleased. At 3,500 points for off peak nights plus 2,000 additional points for club level, it was quite a redemption in terms of value. The breakfast was included for the club level and had quite an extensive selection. The pool and gym areas were very relaxing. The club level had beer, wine, and tasty appetizers every evening. The staff was also generally quite attentive. I needed medical attention while I was there and they were extremely helpful.
My only complaint is that smoking is allowed inside in one of the main restaurants. Lots of smokers in this country overall.
I did not feel that the property was too far away from the central area.
I had been touring Europe since April and needed a rest.
This was the perfect place at the right time.
My husband and I stayed 2 nights at this hotel. I found the club lounge very disappointing ,the food they serve is all left over food from the breakfast buffet as a result my husband and I both got severe food poisoning from the salmon gravlox. I wanted to take a bottle of coke to our room and Katerina working in the lounge did not let me she said everything had to be consumed there or I would have to pay for it.We are both in our 80s and this took a tole on our health. We paid 700 euros for 2 nights stay and had to stay in our room taking turns for the toilet. It was suppose to be a celebration of our 50 anniversary, when we checked in we mentioned that we were there to celebrate our anniversary and the young lady
at check in was not very interested to hear it. We never got an upgrade or even an anniversary wish. Worst hotel experience. Stay somewhere else , Reading some other reviews we were not the only ones with food poisoning from the salmon.
