The only positive memory I have of staying here many years ago is that the sausages at breakfast were among the best I've ever had at a hotel buffet.
Would recommend the Shelbourne in the city centre for a good points hotel. As far as this location, not great for the airport or downtown but a nice quieter part of Dublin and if you have time and are here, check out Howth.

@ dn10 -- That's what I wanted to book, but at nearly $1,000 for the night, I decided the Hilton was the better choice, especially with my early departure.
Roundtrip transatlantic flights to Dublin are almost the same price as a night of hotel there these days. Have been wanting to take advantage of the cheap flights to Ireland to go to other places in Europe, but what you save in flights you pay in hotel especially since you usually have to stay overnight at least one way.
I assume many early arrivals to a suite intend to bed children. It might be simply that housekeeping find sit easier to leave it that way.
Stayed here twice last winter. Much less expensive than the couple properties nearer DUB (and I cant afford the fancy hotels that Ben usually reviews. ). I don't think 15 minutes is a terribly long shuttle ride. Decent breakfast as Diamond. And there is a public bus route in front of the property that stops in a couple of quaint waterfront towns where I took my supper.
My parents recently stayed at this same hotel. We looked at alternatives, particularly the hotels at the airport and the Crowne Plaza, and the cost difference wasn't justifiable, even for a one-night stay. And once you have to take a bus (for Crowne Plaza), the distance to the Hilton becomes less important.
As you may have noticed when you were at the coach/shuttle pickup area, there is a Sofitel under construction. It will be connected via that pedestrian overpass so it will be able to say it's actually AT the airport. (Terminal 2)
Shelbourne is old and stuffy, and not in a cute way. The old folks residents at breakfast glare at anyone non-white or under 45, and the staff there and at check-in don’t even care enough to pretend to be welcoming. The base rooms are small enough as to only be suitable for one person, if you’re traveling as a couple.
Hi, stayed last week and your description if fairly accurate. I did enjoy my stay and breakfast was good and they have a ‘reserved Diamond’ space seating which can be useful when it’s busy.
Dublin hotel prices are just crazy in general, especially on Friday & Saturday nights. I usually just stay at the Premier Inn near Dublin Airport - it's not exactly convenient either but it does have a hotel shuttle and there's also public buses around the corner. Much more reasonably priced and modern in my experience.
This is indeed not the best hotel, but there's really nothing much better in the area from value point of view.
I am not sure which night auditor you had, but with all my stays here, I found this particular gentlemen to be very friendly and actually one of the only customer reaching attitude.

Yes, this. I stayed here a few months back and similarly had a random extra pullout bed made up in my room.
Stayed here recently and had a similar experience: not terrible, but the property is dated and, like every other hotel in Dublin right now, expensive. Agree with the review. Out room was in a poor state.
Also, my shuttles were not on time and, as you noted, didn’t have Hilton branding (not even a sign in the window) which made it hard to find and easy to miss. Husband gave up waiting for his after 40m and got a Uber for €20.
Worth noting that the shuttles don’t drop you at the terminal like most airports, but at the same remote parking area they collect you from. It’s a long, long walk if you’re travelling with elderly or less mobile.
This hotel kind of sums up traveling in Ireland for me….mediocre accommodations for surprisingly high prices…hit and miss service…lower quality food. Wondering whether we stayed there the same night (July 4th). The hotel was just as you described although prices were closer to 350 euros when we booked. Mumford & Sons were playing Dublin’s Malahide Castle that night which is only 10 minutes away. A lot of guests were wearing their t-shirts at breakfast. The shuttle driver was horrible - he refused to load or unload our bags because he didn’t want to hurt his back. WTH!!
Paper is plant based, so not much of a brag on their part especially since it's only 88%.
The night auditor was very nice during my stay in August 2024. As I left very early he offered the taxi ride to the airport and a bag with a take away breakfast since I couldn't take advantage of the breakfast in the restaurant.
