Love that comment about Germany. Being german, I have only been to Mallorca twice over 10 years ago as a child. So I cannot fully relate to the hype. I have visited Italy 30 times during that same timeframe, so I guess I just prefer Italy over Spain. Its also dependent on where people are from in Germany, I am from the south and there we are more drawn towards Italy.
They literally demolished the old building and rebuilt it from scrap. So look forward to seeing what it looks like once it reopens.
Given the nightly rates that the Four Seasons properties charge, I would not expect that many German will consider staying there on their Mallorca vacation.

There is some "old" money in Germany and those who enjoy pleasure and good hospitality, they would stay there for sure, especially since it's such a secluded Resort.
NOT the average German who would go to Playa de Palma, Antrax or even Palma, but just thinking of the former Hilton on the Island and all the former Arabella properties and now part of Marriott, it was mostly German Guests there, and those properties sure charged premium prices, mostly sold out properties!
Service at Four Seasons is still at least 1 level up from e.g. Castello Son Vida or St. Regis Mardavall 😉
Looking at the # of lounge chairs by the pool of this property, it reminds me of the new (ugly) Hilton on the Island, trouble is on the way! 100+ rooms but only 60+ lounge chairs by the pool, OMG. poor activity staff.

New trouble for the luxury hotel Formentor: More sanctions for building law violations
Mallorca's most expensive hotel is said to have built a tennis court without permission! ;-o
The famous luxury hotel Four Seasons Formentor in Pollença, which recently reopened after extensive renovations, is once again making headlines - this time because of unapproved construction projects. The municipality of Pollença is threatening the hotel operator with another fine after it was revealed that a tennis court was built without planning permission and old garages were demolished without permission. The mayor of the municipality, Martí March, was astonished: "I really don't understand why they didn't just apply for the permits - that's what they usually do!"
The illegal measures were stopped in September following a complaint to the municipality. The building authority found that part of the site had been asphalted, apparently as a foundation for the tennis court, and that garages had been demolished to make room for an employee car park. The hotel now faces a further fine of up to 15,000 euros for the illegal construction measures - which seems like pocket money compared to the last sanction, which was over five million euros.
The building disputes are just one chapter in the history of controversies surrounding the Formentor Hotel. In addition to accusations of blocking off public areas and a land dispute over the luxury hotel's parking lot, plans to clear-cut pine trees and build a helipad also caused unrest in the community. It seems as if the hotel is currently less of a tourist attraction than an inexhaustible source of new conflicts.
