Admittedly expansion by a Gulf carrier isn’t exactly front of mind at the moment, as the airlines struggle to operate due to attacks by Iran. But still, airlines are making long term plans, and there’s an interesting development, on that front.

They should have featured a first class cabin on one of those flights.

This is good for the chicago community.
I have not flown the Etihad A350 in business but their older business seats (in the 787s and A380s) I find really hard, and difficult to sleep comfortably on, even with the mattress padding they provide. I hope they have addressed this in the new business class.

Oh sure ? During a regional conflict , so many people will prefer a Gulf airline ?

That's nice. All kind of moot, but good for them - like the plucky but terminally il, enjoying that last make-a-wish moment

I wonder if they’ll expand their partnership with AA. It seems like it was barely a partnership but Charlotte and ORD lean towards cooperation.

Etihad executives have made public remarks in the past about wanting most of their routes (inlcuding to North America) to be served more than once daily.

I think it was Arik De who made a comment about bumping ATL up to twice daily at some point in the future.

Those flight timings seem off Ben
Qatar did ORD double daily for a while but cut it back. Interesting to see if Etihad stick around

But ORD is losing Southwest so it’s kind of a wash

Going by the internet complaints, Etihad seems to be the worst handling IRROPS in the current situation compared to EK and QR. They will have trouble retaining Business class passengers after the conflict ends.

Just out of interest, why do you say (correctly) “attacks by Iran” but never “attacks by israel” in any of your posts relating to the situation?

It’s quite odd…

Interesting for sure. Checked if one flight over the other might be a savings in Business class. The second flight is not showing up on Google flights yet though, which would be a bit unusual if already available for purchase from Etihad. Haven't looked yet at Etihad's site directly.

not going to be relevant with iranian attacks. UAE is finished.

Just a guess, but perhaps it's because Israel has not attacked the Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, or Saudi Arabia. Israel's attacks, and those of the United States, did not themselves put the gulf state airlines at risk. Iran's response includes attacking those countries. While it may have been foreseeable, it was Iran's attacks, or responses to attack, that put the home airports for Etihad, and others, at risk.

Mark - I don't think it's odd in this context. Israel isn't attacking airports in the UAE, Iran is.

Is there a glitch on the website? I cannot access all of the comments.

Thanks!

Smallest thing? Missles fired are just a small inconvenience for you?

But when there is a snowstorm and all US airlines go crazy for days after storm is already gone... that's job well done?

ORD is a sticking point for AA (literally-- can they stick around there). Maybe this was to aid connecting traffic for AA via ORD, rather than another hub they could have chosen. If so, I would call that cooperation.

Just click on the number of responses underneath the headline. I experienced the same issue around 10PM PST last night.

I've noticed it too. Thought it was just me or my phone. Been happening the past week or two, but not consistently. Sometimes have to go in and out a couple of times to read all the comments, even when click on the number. Plus, the scroll seems to get 'stuck' occassionally on any Twitter or similar inserts, and freezes my screen & have to reload from scratch to clear it.

I read that it will be a B787 not a A351 for EY11/12 flights.
