Here's my prediction: nationalization -> continued waste + corruption in management -> change of management -> bankruptcy -> start a new national airline with a similar sounding name
They aren't fit to run an airline of this scale. International airline industry is such a cut throat business. Just running one for national pride isn't enough. The airline either needs to find a good area to focus or continue to run losses
We flew Kenya a couple years ago, great business/first class service on our flight from Dubai to Nairobi. The FA was really nice, and attentive. He was also very excited, then, to tell us that the airline was in preparations to began service to the US. Hopefully they're able to pull through and get things sorted.
This is best alternative for KQ. Nationalize and have professionals run it. Reduce cost and taxation while at sane time generate revenue as multiplier effect in tourism and cargo.
After privatisation, the airline was running pretty much successfully and was profitable till a few years ago qhwn things went haywire.
KQ believes that it'll compete better with ET and EK/QR if it gov owned like those airlines are. I'm not buying this.
Will they let a manager/CEO with the proper know how lead the airline in the right path without lots of interferance? If history is anything to go by then i don't think so.

I really don’t care who runs kenya airways. Something needs to change, service has gone really bad not to mention the amount of delays and cancellations I have experienced this year.
Another chapter in the book, ''How to waste taxpayer dollars''. This is just kicking the can down the road to insolvency.
Ownership is irrelevant, in my opinion. What matters is the freedom to act in a commercial manner.
ET is 100% owned by the Ethiopian government. However, as far as I can tell, the only remit the airline has from government is to "go away and make money", which they do successfully!
It seems like every African country wants to have an airline these days. It's a win-win situation for Boeing and Airbus. Unless Europe and the US make their territories more accessible to the average African, it would be an uphill battle for any African country to compete against the other dominant carriers.
