Bottom line is that her post was factual. Do we need to actually see him wearing a hood to make this less controversial?

If only they took the initiative to investigate the 20 or so odd DL pilots and FAs I know on insta that constantly post Qanon, anti mask, anti vaccine conspiracies in their Instagram profile

The level of harm they cause and how they are getting away is astounding. You would imagine being a pilot would make you intelligent like NASA pilots which is what schools teach you when you were small, but what do you do when even CAE is known to induct barely passed high schoolers into thei cadet programmes of ULCCs

Especially with the fact that Jan 6 happened and the lone assailant who attacked an FBI office yesterday is enough to proof he created a far right cult extremist around himself

I think it's a stretch to say that there is a "big unionization effort at the airline." It's more accurate to say Sara Nelson and The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA have repeatedly tried to unionize Delta FAs. Delta FAs receive profit share (in 2019 it was record setting), pay during boarding (something the union has used as a rallying cry for years despite never getting it for their members), and generally seem to enjoy their job (looking at you AA and UA).

I hope Delta gets their union contract done with their pilots ASAP, which seems to be coming down to the need to hire more pilots (a plight across all US airlines). They're already among the best compensated in the industry. It's not the Delta way to have these family disputes in the public eye.

I did not know that President Trump has been seen wearing a KKK hood (which is NOT an approved Covid-19 mask, btw, which is what the moderator is shown to be thanking). So how is this factual? From the article, it also appears that the person who got fired by Delta was also responsible for the firing of another employee due to a similar post. Standards should be applied equally, or do they only apply in one direction?

Also, considering that Trump's pre-covid economic liberation policies led to the lowest black unemployment in recorded history, seem to me that he is the worst.racist.ever. Finally, since KKK hated jews as much as blacks would seem to discredit any KKK affiliation buy Trump due to his close Jewish family ties (via his daughter and grandchildren). So I am really not sure how this reflects any sort of "reality".

This post has everything one needs to drive "engagement". "Fired", KKK and Trump in the headline. It's got unions, race, masks...

But it's not an aviation story. the exact same story could run about coca Cola or Con-Agra. Has Zero to do with Points, Miles, flying, aircraft...

This is the kind of post a guy posts when he isn't getting enough sleep for some reason.

I don't think a decision to be terminated should be based on whether these type of postings are pro or anti Republican (Trump) or Democrat. That type of argumentation is just silly. Delta needs to be consistent here regardless of one's political perspective, and they apparently are. I don't think the Company has a reputation to just randomly fire flight attendants. Had they been doing that, flight attendants would have already unionized.

It can easily extend into the workplace, just like social media postings can extend into school settings. I don't agree with her firing, but if one makes statements that others one works with or attends school with can see, they can easily enter those settings.

What is not known (at least in this article) is whether the terminated FA had ever identified herself as a Delta employee. If she had, she does subject herself to Delta's rules.
If she had never identified as a DL employee in the channel in which she posted her comments, then she needs to push the case all the way to court and not settle for anything less than the full amount of her future career earnings and pension. Cases like this need to clearly establish - all the way to the Supreme Court - that individual Americans acting on their own and without identity to any organization - are free to speak anything they want as long as that is legal. Hateful speech is legal and we hear the same thing out of all kinds of politicians on both sides of the aisle.
Companies absolutely have the right to dictate the image of the company their employees convey but they do not have the right to dictate speech if that employee acts on its own; the same principle must be true for any other social or religious organization.

The fact that WN settled for multi-millions of dollars with the conservative FA who was wrongfully terminated and the union accomplished absolutely nothing proves that unions are not of help; the legal system is where she found relief.

@david and @ernesto...Because it's liberals who are embracing racist, anti-immigrant, anti-trans, or anti-anyone who isn't Christian rhetoric, right? Because it's liberals who attacked the Capital, right? Because it's liberals who always put our economy in the gutter with their tax cuts for the rich and for corporations, right? Because it's liberals whose administration lied to the American people about the severity of COVID, right? Because it's liberals who created the racist "welfare queen" trope and continue to embrace it, even though more white folks use it than any other group, right? Because it's liberals who are embracing white nationalism, right? Because it's liberals who are talking about destroying our democracy, right?
Come on...

Agreed but no one is getting fired for sharing a cartoon of Trump getting beheaded. I believe that the fact thats its ok to share far left facebook memes/cartoons only furthers people sharing far right memes. This leads to more issues and a dumber society as a whole. I wouldnt fire anyone for this but i would also never hire anyone who posts political things like this regardless of what side they are on anyone who gets political on facebook is a potential liability that can be avoided.

Wow, talk about stereotyping with a broad brush... Because it's conservatives that are involved in "mostly peaceful protests" that cause billions of dollars in damage, spew anti-semitic memes/language, supported BLM corruption, threatened or attacked Supreme Court in pro-abortion violent protests at pregnancy centers (last I checked this co-equal branch to Legislative or Executive branches which were involved in Capitol rioting), LGBT extremism/grooming and loss of parental rights in schools/medicine (can't give out an aspiring without parental permission, but feel free to get puberty blockers behind your parents back, etc., but to me these appear to be handled differently in the media and justice system.

I am politically unaffiliated, and being a legal immigrant from a country that has seen both sides of these political extremes (and how they seem to be handled unevenly in this country) may give me a bit of different perspective on these issues than the typical commenter here.

If Delta and FAs are not aviation related, what else is, besides airplanes and airports? Americans love to lecture each other and the world about freedom and civil rights, but they are clueless how and when it is appropriate to exercise it. Just because it is legal does not mean you are freely to flaunt and abuse it. We always should put society interests above personal gratification for the good of the country. We must be mindful of the consequences of our acts and lyrics before anything else. If your action outside work may blemish the company's reputation, then the company has every right to defend and protect it by severing its work relations with you. Many guys who participated in the insurrection were fired by their employers once it got their attention. Lastly, remember Kathy Griffin lost her gig on CNN's NY Eve with Anderson Cooper for displaying a drawing of Trump's decapitated head. Can we stop slapping labels on each other on every topic we engage in?

You make several errors of logic. It's not about "slapping labels" on every topic, it's about considered evaluation of protected rights. In America we have INDIVIDUAL rights for well established reasons, and we don't enforce conformity for the sake of conformity; that goes against both our culture and rule of law. If we follow your "logic" to the end, we might as well scrap the US Constitution, and you suggest adding to the harm by prioritizing corporate rights (which doesn't exist in the Constitution) over individual rights (as protected by our Bill of Rights. And to compare violent insurrections or a publicity stunt on national TV to an individual social media post (it's not like she made a PA on the airplane) demonstrates absurd thinking.

It's just as factual as if Biden was wearing the hood. Remember; Jim
Crow and the KKK were Democrat ideas. Republicans freed the slaves and still tries to get every slave out of poverty into the workplace where they can achieve the American dream. (Not dependency on big government providing the goodies and handouts!)
Rent subsidies, free phones, food stamps, "free" healthcare, abortion on demand, welfare payments unless you marry or work too much......

Well, I'm pretty sure that Kathy Griffin would disagree with you...she paid a huge price for that. Regardless, I agree with you to a point - there's a ton of false equivalence thrown around that is just dangerous. For example: a political cartoon basically calling Trump a racist - when there is a history of racial discrimination cases against him; when his own words about certain immigrant populations are in the public; when he has embraced white supremacists (Sheriff Arapaio; the Charlottesville "protesters"; Victor Orban; Putin; etc...,) - is a bit different than memes calling for the execution of The Squad; calling for any number of Democratic Secretaries of State to be hung; etc..,. The threats of violence coming from the Right is not equivalent to that which exists on the Left. These false equivalences pop up everywhere, and pretending that "both sides are just as bad" ignores a plethora of things (like racism, homophobia, xenophobia, election denialism, ignoring the rule of law) that, if we continue to ignore, will lead to the end of democracy in the USA.

Did he, @CMorgan?
I don't see anything factual in his response. Because, according to the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED) - a non-governmental non-profit organization that has been tracking incidents of conflict around the world since at least 2014 - over 93% of the nearly 7,500 BLM protests in this country have been peaceful, and those that have not were often a result of white supremacy groups like the Boogaloo Bois and 3%ers starting s***. So, no, not there. And the LGBTQ+ Community is seeking to groom children and take away parental rights? Right, because gay and trans folks have been proven to be doing this, right? Alllll the evidence mounting there, right? One doesn't have to watch MSNBC to know a homophobe or racist when one sees, hears, or reads one. But please, keep all the false equivalences coming!

Regardless of political affiliation, freedom of speech outside of the direct employment context should trump (no pun intended) all, even though I realize there is no constitutional issue here as there is no state actor. This cuts across the spectrum. Don't forget the WN FA who won a very large judgment at trial for a decidedly anti-abortion post, although as a federal trial (plaintiffs') attorney who read the pleadings in that case online at PACER.gov I question whether that verdict will hold up on appeal.

If Eve had talked about positions on taxes, healthcare, or even abortion, your point would be valid.
Even on masks and vaccines it is possible to understand the facts and have a minority opinion on policies.
But Qanon? That's not a political viewpoint, it's pure make-believe.
It has just as much basis as the rumour that perhaps the Democrats should start, that many senior Republicans kill kittens on Sunday mornings and eat them for brunch.

Completely agree.
Not least because does that mean that a City taken over by Republicans or a State taken over by Democrats can stifle freedom of expression of the public employees?

But American corporations often seem to think they own their employees rather than contracting with them for x hours work per week.

Agreed, great comment. Many people don't realize that hateful, racist, false, foul, etc speech is protected in US. We should all be very suspicious of corporations claiming the mantle of morality. Alex Berenson (former NYT writer) just released internal Twitter comms with White House admin to have him banned. These corporations are sometimes, in effect, state actors which makes them open to 1st Amendment. Even contra messages about covid treatments are protected. Delta better watch this crap they are pulling. I don't agree with the FA but she can post nonsense all day long as a private citizen and Delta should eff off.

Not politically affiliated. Are you joking?

You exhibit all of the symptoms of right wing delusion, the dog whistle politics (claiming Black Lives Matter is corrupt rather than seeking inclusion and non discrimination ), the reversal of abuser and abused (Supreme Court under attack whilst it strips a woman's access to abortion and now seeking to undermine access to contraception and same-sex marriage, rather than seeking preservation of individual rights), anti-gay incitement (implying gay people are sexual abusers, rather than being inclusive), blaming the left for lack of access to medicines (whilst decrying universal health care and the science and suffering over one million American dead from COVID rather than advocating equality of access to health care), making excuses for incitement for murderous riots at the nation's parliament (fake claims about the perpetrators despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary), attacking those who are different to you (trans gender aspirants because somebody god delusion said say, rather than celebrating human diversity)....etc...etc

Sorry mate, in my book that makes you (1) a sad and deluded person and (2) aligned with the right wing in its psychotic glory.

Yes, Ernesto did great job at demonstrating what is foul about your right wing politics in the USA - its incipient racism, its divisiveness, its lies, its failure to champion the individual, its appallingly denial of science, its intent on suppressing diversity, its denial of access to health care, its denial of the insurrection it invoked, its refusal to respect democratic process, its refusal to accept the rule of law applying to its own, its pandering to the basest and vilest instincts of people too weak to think for themselves.

what a sad bunch off f--kwits you are

now go clean your gun mate, the USA is so uncivilised and the murder rate so high you might need it, right?

The problem is that the Donald Duckling has a bad record when it comes to inciting division, that at the time of the debate depicted in the cartoon, the orange fluff had articulated support for the Proud Boys. It's to the utter shame of the GOP that they support such.

Other countries manage to function very effectively with equality of access to health care and education.

The former is a hallmark of a mature and civilised nation and the latter a route for those from impoverished and underprivileged backgrounds to attain success through a solid education.

Of course, there is no place for such basic considerations in an utterly selfish society, that of your American right wing. The country's failure at resolving poverty and societal inequity thereby remain quagmired in great right wing lie of being champion's of individual opportunity, when actually you are failing dismally to mature as a nation.

No, David, the Orange Fluffball cannot claim honours for COVID vaccines.

For starters, Pfizer did not receive cash to develop its vaccine (although it was party to an agreement to buy so many doses if and when such vaccine was successfully developed).

Secondly, many vaccines around the world have been developed in response to the COVID pandemic, including that of Astra Zeneca, used in the UK and certain other countries.

Governments around the world made deals to buy vaccines.

The t*RUMP property was raided to seek the return of government documents, which had allegedly been taken illegally (i.e. stolen - they do not being to the Orange Fluff.

It has been reported that the government had repeatedly sought the return of such documents through the usual legal channels. When the documents weren't returned after several such attempts the raid became a necessary step.

The raid was sanctioned by the judiciary following due process. That should be your clue that (1) those documents are of national importance (2) due democratic / legal process is being carefully followed and (3) the problem lies with your lying hero, who may yet be proven to have behaved illegally.

Of course, you are so brainwashed you get the story all twisted up. Somehow a citizen (who happens to be a former president) allegedly is in possession of documents he has stolen, which are of great national importance.

And by the way, if American society was not profoundly racist and discriminatory, there wouldn't need to be a BLM movement in the first place fora major grouping in society who only got to vote a few decades ago.

As for COVID - whatever the history of the matter, the USA failed spectacularly to the tune of over one million dead Americans - and that, buddy, was on the watch of one dithering and incompetent administration.

She may possess w/e her thoughts, where she would not demand a company act against a person with a picture/words against obamas? biden? So here for her, fine for me a carve out, but not for thee.
