With the number of flights in the air at any given point, its not unheard of for pilots to become ill while at the controls of a plane. However, heres one of the stranger such situations weve seen, involving a Delta captain, as flagged by JonNYC.

"I'm going to.." refers to the aircraft, not the pilot necessarily, as a pilot doesn't id himself as the one operating the controls merely by talking .

I’m going to go out on a limb here and suggest that perhaps he was having a gallbladder attack. They come on suddenly, are extremely painful, and require fast medical attention. Hope he feels better soon.
Poor guy. Commanding any entity is terrible while under distress but a 757 with passengers under your care has got to be harrowing. Hopefully he recovers strongly!

An inflight illness by any crew member, especially a pilot, has to go through quite a few hoops to be "cleared" back to flying status. Driven more by FAA medical clearance criteria, then company clearance.
