@peter_ Woah! I guess Citi/AA trying to offset their increased annual fee (just $100 more, but an extra 25K SUB over priors is decent). If I didn’t already have it, or didn’t have to wait for the clock to reset, I’d consider it for a year. (Wonder if Citi will bring back a 100K Strata Elite SUB. P2 is interested, by the 75K offers just aren’t as compelling.)
@Ben, I seem to recall that when you included photos of planes you spotted on the tarmac you'd caption them with what they were, e.g., "Lufthansa 747-800" but it seems like you've stopped? Such captions were far more helpful then a generic "Air India 777 taxiing" caption on multiple photos of different planes. Can you please go back to identifying the planes in the captions, as not all of your readers are as competent as you in identifying different planes. Thanks!
@jallan Woe is me for the folks who frequent travel blogs but cannot tell the difference between the 'Queen of the Skies' and a 777. *nails on a chalkboard* Heck, I've had to train P2 on the nuance between a 772 and 773 (it's the number of doors on the side... 4 vs. 5). Ok, I'm just playin'. The more description the merrier! How else is anyone gonna learn anyway. Good ideas!
@1990_ In a previous life (a profession, not an interest or pastime) I can remember learning the difference between a B707 and a DC-8, or a TU-134 and TU-154. There are tells between different twin jets, doors as you mentioned, winglets, shape of the nose, horizontal and vertical stabilisers; at a distance a small twin can be mistaken for a larger one unless you see them together. Ben sometimes points them out, sometimes not. It can be fun for those who are interested, others are not.
