Suggestion for a write-up on grocery and/or convenience stores @ airports
Though your site is about points & premium travels, my hunch is you have plenty of 'economy' followers like me!
Most European airports have grocery and/or convenience stores yet few or none in US have them - an article expounding this anomaly will likely appeal to "all" including the premium group for various reasons - grab and go, on the move, travel essentials, on a budget, time crunch, avoid crowded lounges, etc. Do these stores provide an opportunity to (paraphrasing a quote from your home page) "enjoy truly extraordinary experiences while spending significantly less than you’d expect"? I think they do offer a "nice experience" and a respite from the normal airport chaos while spending much less than you’d expect!
At least in European airports such stores (stocked up with cold cuts, farm produce, baked/grain goods, sandwiches, local treats, drinks, have automated coffee machines) coexist with other name brand/expensive stores so some variant of this model may be a viable option, here in US.
That's a great topic, thanks for bringing it up, rk1985! I'll work on something. Funny you mention this, because while passing through Frankfurt Airport recently, I stopped in the supermarket there in The Squaire to buy chocolates to bring home, and thought of how convenient that was.
I suspect this also partly comes down to many non-US airports having much better public transportation, so airports are larger transit hubs, and it changes the way that people may shop a bit as well. Like, if you just landed in Frankfurt and are catching a train at a certain time, it's convenient to be able to pick up some essentials.
