The Chase Sapphire Preferred Card (review) is losing a unique perk that set it apart in some ways, and I’m sure cardmembers won’t be happy about it.

In a vacuum this wouldn't have moved the needle too much, but coupled with the Doordash credit pickup nerf, the continuing nerfs to Points Boost/booking through Chase Travel, and the Hyatt devaluation which indirectly devalues UR points, I no longer see any reason to retain this card.

In all honesty, why should I keep this card? From looking at a couple of no-fee cash back cards, they offer a better net value vs. UR.

Better value to get a couple of no-fee cash back cards.

It can't be any more clear. Chase is engaged in a systematic reduction in card value. Across the board. A person would be a fool not to expect more devaluation shoes to drop.

The fact that Chase keeps on reducing the benefits ever which way it can, means only one thing. They are not seeing significant decrease in people subscribing to their cards. So they can keep getting away with reducing benefits even more.

Unless a whole bunch of people actually walk way from their cards, they can keep marketing their cards with multiple promo articles and ads and get away with giving next to nothing.

Seriously time to go back to no fee cashback cards.

I still need this card to take my 1.5x freedom points and transfer to Hyatt, United and Air Canada. However, redemptions are getting worse with those 3 points programs. I'll wait another year to see how badly the Hyatt devaluation is before cancelling.

I have moved all of my spend away from Chase and already dumped the Freedom last year. Bilt gets the vast majority of my spend and provides outsize value to offset the AF. Chase has done nothing to keep up.

Yes the Hyatt de-val also hits the Chase card. I just burned all my Chase points so may decline to renew.

Yikes - it just keeps getting worse. Chase going from best to worst in the points ecosystem. Still better than paying for the CSR which I'll imminently downgrade from
