Will it get a mini spa with the complementary massages? That's what makes the current Pier First unique.
I stopped in here a few weeks ago when it was just business class. Pretty underwheliming even compaped to the Pier's Biz Class lounge. I'm sure the upgraded ammenities will help. I always book a longer layover in HKG to take advantage of the CX lounges.
Oh, that sucks for USA bound passengers -- that lounge is right next to the gates closest to the USA departures.
I've never been the The Deck, and it'd be interesting to see what specific changes CX made to convert it from a business class lounge to a first class lounge.
Another separate topic that I think many would be interested: will CX open an arrival lounge at HKG? They used to have one (and Plaza Premium also had one) before the Terminal 2 construction began. My understanding is that Terminal 2 should be completed by the end of the 2025 or early 2026, and there are two spaces designated for arrival lounges in the new construction. Hopefully, CX will open a new and bigger arrival lounge at HKG!
I really liked this lounge and as OWS I'm sad it's out of reach now.
Sure it's smaller and has fewer amenities than the Pier, but the upper-floor views and spaciousness of the balcony more than made up for it. The Pier can feel like a basement after a while. It was nice to start at Pier then move to Deck if departure was near Deck.
I suppose OWS can still use the QF lounge nearby, although I'm more of a fan of the CX food, drink, design vs QF so still a loss for me. I think all the QF lounges are a bit overrated, perhaps personal taste.
So what are the options for biz passengers on Cathay flying back to the US when this lounge is first-only?
I'm sitting in The Deck right now and if not too inconvenient, OWEs should skip The Deck and go to The Pier.
