Capital One has updated its language regarding eligibility for welcome bonuses on cards, as flagged by Danny the Deal Guru. I’d view this as being positive clarification more than anything else.

With C1 seemingly rejecting people who have lots of cards I'd be nervous to cancel my Venture X to try to get another bonus. Maybe in 3 years we will have more data points though and I'd have a more informed decision on that.

Sure, but nothing in the rules requires you to cancel your venture X. If you wait 48 months, apply for another bonus and then (if approved) you can cancel the first card.

I have a Venture X and a VentureOne and earned bonus miles from each in the past. Will I be able to get the bonus for the Venture card?

That's the point though, with the new rules you cannot have more than one Venture X. I've never explore if C1 allows a product change into Venture X though. If you can, then you could cancel Venture X, apply, and if denied product change another card into Venture X

I received an Amex gold card bonus one year after canceling. Granted, I had the card for 11 years, so that might be the factor. It's more likely 7 years after receiving than 7 years after canceling.

I have several Capital One cards and I barely get an increase, and my son applies and his limit is more than all my cards combined.
