I have two consecutive nights at the Park Hyatt Tokyo in September. The first night is a paid say with a GoH applied. The second night is a Free Night with points. In practice does Hyatt allow the use of a single GoH across 2 separate bookings with the stays being consecutive?
likely no; none of the certificates can be applied across bookings, and benefits like breakfast are usually hardcoded into properties' reservations systems. That said, if you call in advance and let them know that you have two consecutive bookings, they'll quite possibly let you keep any complimentary upgrade that you may get across both nights.
HNL, digital_notmad is exactly right. Officially the answer is no, but if you let the hotel know, they'll sometimes extend the benefits. That being said, Japan tends to be very by the book, so I wouldn't expect that at the Park Hyatt Tokyo, unfortunately (at least not perks like breakfast). It can't hurt to ask, though.
I'd be curious if a fresh My Way booking (if you're able to cancel and rebook) would allow you to apply the cert online. It was something I want to do early next year (book a reservation with a combo of free night awards and points, and then apply a suite upgrade).
I sent an email to the property explaining the situation and politely asked if they’d accommodate my request. I am awaiting a reply and I’ll post an update when I get a respose.
I am happy to report back the hotel has combined my two bookings into one.
Hat's off to the PH team for extending this courtesy.
I'm late to this, but I'm not surprised. I've done this kind of booking many times before; e.g.: one free night, one paid night, or one night on points and one night with a certification. If you call Hyatt, they will combine them into a single confirmation number/reservation.
I would actually always advise doing this, because that way, you don't end up with one reservation (half your stay) getting rebooked/cancelled due to an oversold situation. If you are already a Globalist and have access to the concierge service (obviously not the case here, if a GoH award was being used), they will also do this for you, saving you a phone call.
The one place where I have not consistently had good luck is in getting suite upgrades applied in those situations. As WoH members know, you are not allowed to use a confirmed suite upgrade certificate in conjunction with a free night certificate (but you can when booking with points). In cases where I had two nights, and one used a certificate, I was 50/50 on getting them to give me a suite upgrade. (In one case, they said they could do it for only one night, so I'd have to change rooms in between...no thanks!)
