Amex are not worth 1.7 cpp. Literally every transfer program has been devalued, with availability ever more difficult. Value is now around 1.4 to 1.5 cpp.
Perhaps on average. But, as with every program, some redemptions can be had for significantly higher than that average.
Kacee is correct. All these bank programs have devalued themselves. I rate Amex at 1.1x because that’s what I can cash it out to Schwab. Even this promo ain’t great unless you need to top-off for a redemption.
I was thinking if I can transfer to Hilton and redeem for and SLH property, which would at least give me breakfast and possible upgrade. Or is breakfast always included in Hilton gold?

Figuring out a redemption value is not a one size fits all proposition. By taking advantage of the fifth night free redemption benefit, I've often gotten .6 or .7 cents value per point especially in areas with high hotel taxes. But there are plenty of overpriced redemptions where you're better off paying cash and earning a bunch of points. The best strategy is to have a particular redemption in mind and do the math before purchasing or transferring points.
I just moved about 80k points over to my Hilton honors account with the Amex promotion. I was able to book 3 nights on Moorea (95k) per night using hilton points, (I had like 40k something in there already). Rooms were about $600/ night so I saved about $1800 with the move. Worth it? Curious to hear
