According to weather.com (and, really, most major news outlets), Tropical Storm Florence has been upgraded to a hurricane, and is set to descend upon the East Coast later this week. While the exact location of landfall and date of arrival are still unknown, it looks like Virginia and the Carolinas seem to be the center…

Fake news. There is no hurricane. If you can't see a hurricane with your eyes don't believe what the news tell you. Especially all youRepublicans that live on the coast. You are smarter than those fake liberals.

I always check where the inbound aircraft of my flight is coming from and whether it has a delay. If it already has a delay (and my own flight has not been delayed yet) I already start calling my the airline's elite number. I mainly use flightradar24 app to check on the status of the inbound aircraft but I'm curious what other people recommend.

I'm flying from Orlando to New York Thursday Night on American and I'm sure the flight will probably get canceled since its flight path is on the coast. I have to get to NYC so I'm probably going to change the flight via Dallas or Chicago. I just reached Platinum status so will they let me change outright or will I have to wait until closer to departure (since MCO and LGA are both not under threat by the hurricane)?

Is there any legal way for FEMA to only help Democrats in a situation like this since they believe in government and not help Republicans since they believe in capital markets?

@W - It's worth a call - you'll at least get a dedicated phone line that you wouldn't have before reaching platinum. AA's flight change rules (outside of weather waivers) are a bit more restrictive than Delta's or United's, but you may have some luck with the right agent.

That said, the flight may go as is and just take a more circuitous path, since the hurricane isn't supposed to get inland until later this week. (My JetBlue flight last week ended up on a flight path that made it look like the pilot was drawing someone's silhouette - go figure.)

Good luck out there!

North Carolina actually decreed that global warming is a hoax.

People there is no hurricane. Even if you are drowning its just a dream. Don't wake up
