A small correction: Centurion Card holders are not restricted to when you can access the Amex lounge (at least in US). You just show your card and ID. You do not show your boarding pass. Because of this, you can use the lounge on arrival, more than three hours before departure and if you can get past security you do not even need to be flying that day.

I don’t travel that much, however using my Dutch Amex Platinum card with the priority pass lounge acces has always been a great value for me. It’s one of may reasons I love this card. And will keep it for a long time

Some China Eastern branded Plaza Premium lounges in China require you to be flying them or their subsidiaries or SkyTeam for access, even through Amex.

An annoying thing: the US version of the card will not get you into the Eurostar lounges in London, Paris and Brussels; you have to have a European one...

One correction. You need a boarding pass with a seat assignment to enter those god-awful places. If your flight was canceled and you are on standby for another flight, or you are an airline employee, do not even bother.

I shred all the prequals. I am not interested in a $700 coupon book either. It is sad and kind of pathetic how far Amex has fallen. They really appear to have no shame. As long as people keep overpaying for their card, it will keep getting worse. Avoid at all costs imo.

Overall, you are right but their Priority Pass benefits are not as good as other cards.

We got the Capital One Venture X card two years ago. No problem entering the IAD new Cap1 Lounge this past year. Last week when we entered, they told us we had to have a confirmed seat assignment, too! We're retired airline employees...for 55 years...never going to happen....lost our airline pensions and Standby seats are all we have left. Called their cardholder care specialists and they said Yep, needed an assigned seat. Cancelled card immediately....timing good as yearly renewal $$$ was due soon. Never had this issue with Priority Pass with our Chase Sapphire Reserve. Staying with Chase!
