In the last installment I reviewed the Oneworld Lounge Mexico City Airport, though the Admirals Club is just one level up, so I figured I’d check it out as well.

The giant atrium these lounges overlook is pretty and has nice daylight. There’s a hotel (Hilton maybe?) inside the terminal as well; I think they have day rooms.

I find this terminal 1 has better services than the newer Terminal 2.

In any case work is proceeding on a new airport a few years from now. That depends on the new president next year putting the project on track.

I beg to differ and do prefer anyday the AA MEX lounge to the OW Iberia MEX lounge, downstairs. Other than the unique shower, inside the bathroom, in the OW lounge all the other perks at AA are far superior, such as :

a) At AA's a unique password to access wifi while in the lounge; OW lounge gives an array of passwords, depending on where you sit inside the lounge to use from. And if moving inside the lounge, one has to connect to a different lounge wifi network; Confusing to say the least.

b) Food is appalling at the OW lounge: Poor quality, very limited offerings and what is available covered in plastic or foils

c) Service: At the OW lounge food is offered and left until all tray has been consumed; At the AA's lounge they go to the detail of adding a simple one dessert if one dessert has already been taken from the tray, always leaving the impression all has just been set.

Just a minor note regarding alcohol in lounges at MEX: the United Club has self serve spirits, with beer in a fridge.

The AA lounge has greatly improved in recent years. A design refresh (OK, still hardly stylish, but much better than before); decent food offer, including fresh hot Mexican snacks and a panini press for those sandwiches; much improved wifi (used to be very spotty). What remains unchanged is a very well-stocked bar with a friendly bartender, who is also a barista making very good esperesso-based beverages (consider that in the US lounges don't even have self-serve espresso machines...). Also, you can get a lift on the AA golf cart, very useful for the very far gates most of their flights operate from. The reception staff will tell you when the next one is coming.

I have only used the Iberia lounge once and was not impressed.

I was there in September between earthquakes and was impressed by the friendliness of the bar tender and at the reception. Also by the quality of the food at the buffet. Far better than any other Admirals Club in Miami, Dallas LA and Buenos Aires. And so quiet, instead of crowded and busy. An unexpected pleasant experience.

NOT necessary to have any credit card to get in, even while traveling Y as AA EXP or Plat. Mexico City is considered international.

Not only is it unnecessary to have a Citi/AAdvantage credit card to get in, my wife and I got in literally on Dec. 25th as ALASKA Lounge members as we were flying MEX-SFO on AS.

That is my favorite Admirals Club - the bartender is very friendly and knowledgeable if you're planning on buying something from Duty Free, come here to get a taste first!

You missed out on the best espresso of any lounge worldwide. The bartender makes it to order. It is amazing!

If one pax enter multiple Lounge for one trip, will the Airlines need to pay twice to each of the lounge?

This is also the lounge LH uses for First Class/HON Circle.
While admittedly quite underwhelming for F lounge, it is at least better and FAR less crowded than UA lounge.

Totally agree with PB and OT that the AA lounge is better than the Oneworld Iberia Lounge. Food and drinks are of a much higher standard in the AA lounge. You get bubbly in the AA one but not in the Oneworld one. The food is presented way better in the AA one with a number of non snack options but proper meal type options. The only downside is the dreary decor in the AA one. The Oneworld one has better decor but that wouldn’t make me go to it over the AA one.
