We had taken a 5AM flight from Los Angeles to Dallas, and only had a 65 minute connection in Dallas. Since we had to switch concourses, we headed straight to our departure gate. Our flight was departing from the international terminal, which is Concourse D. This is where the Amex Centurion Lounge and American Flagship…

Had flown this product from SCL to DFW in Feb with Seat 3A . Not so impressed. Even felt annoying when 4a passenger move or sit .For AA I prefer 77W Business Product. Like Dfw to Hkg 🙂

I hope ford also writes a review just to spite people that don't like him writing reviews. Let's go ford.

"The one thing that’s awkward about the seat is that for the most part someone is staring right at you, or you’re staring right at someone, depending on whether you have a forward or rear facing seat."

Lucky, can you expand on this as this wasn't mentioned in the seat guide postings? Are there specific seats where someone can't just stare at you and what seats are those?

Lucky,

I flew on this route just a few days before you and noticed the same problem with the uncontrollable windows as you have. At first, I was really puzzled as well. Though I eventually figured out what the problem was.
The windows were linked. Meaning that for me sitting in 3L to adjust the window immediately next to my seat, the forward window at 4L would also be adjusted to my setting. If I am to adjust my forward window, the 2L window would adjust as well. Same goes for when the other people are adjusting their windows, mine would be dimmed/undimmed.
Interestingly, I took the same plane on the return(did a turnaround to Beijing), but didn't have this problem. All the windows were independent on my way back. So I suspect this has something to do with a setting that the crew (perhaps inadvertently) selects.

@ben,
Is the seat-back screen as reflective as it looks? And what happens when the flight attendants centrally dim the shades -- can you override it with your own control?
Pretty good review, thanks

Can you elaborate on the center dividers not working? I'm traveling on an AA 777 200 business class with my wife to Europe. We booked center seats so we could sit together. Is this an issue on the 777 200 as well?

Did anyone from your group try the egg tarts in the business snack area? Any problems with your seat shaking on this flight?

My wife and I flew DFW>PEK on April 7th, nine hours late due to mechanical (next day's flight was cancelled!). That put our trip in the dark, so windows were not an issue and we slept well. We were in 4 D&H and the divider was permanently up in order not to cut into some wires according to our FA. My steak was perfect. Yes, the seat would rock a little bit when the person behind me moved, but it didn't really bother me. Yes, I tried the delicious egg tarts. Service was pretty much the way you described it -- attentive, but not intrusive. Alas, no upgrades available on the trip home so we were at the back in 29AB, at least just the two of us for the short 12.5 hour trip back even though we didn't sleep well 🙂 It seems criminal to pack the nine narrow seats and short pitch in economy 'minus.' However, I shouldn't complain for a ticket that cost a mere $560 rt (PDX-PEK) and racked up a ton of Alaska miles!!

Gotta love how you'll avoid the salad because the dressing is creamy, but you'll dive right into that ice cream sundae 😉 Healthy eating and logic never apply to dessert...

Our center divider was the only
One not working in our cabin. I had a problem with my seat, my IFE, the divider, and my food - and got 3 $200 vouchers from AA for it between my wife and I. It's SO annoying American isn't properly handling the center divider notification. I wanted to sit with my wife and flew that plane specifically for the cabin!

Thanks for the great review - Family will be on DFW-PEK in November - on our way to HKG - burned off my AA Miles before Devaluation for DFW-PEK-HKG-CNS-SYD-SFO-DFW

I Originally had us seated in 5 B,C,D, but changed to 3A/4A/5A after reading about the special "KC and the Sunshine Band" seat feature, definitely glad we did if the divider is permanently raised.

While the Bose headphones are good, I have loved my Parrot Zik's with no cord at all - worth the space they take up in the carry on!

I flew this flight in March of this year in BC and sat in 5L. I really liked this seat. The only thing that annoyed me was the guy sitting in 4H when he had his reading light on it shined on this monitor and right into my eyes. This was annoying because he had the light on most of the flight.

5L was good for non-shaking seat and had extra storage behind it.

Typing this from DFW-PEK - Great Crew - all professional and friendly which makes the difference...

Just a small point - as I type this we are 1 hour from Beijing and I still have internet access, it did go down for around and hour as we left the northern territories, but it has been on all the time as we flying over the mainland.
