This is rather exciting news. Hawaiian Airlines will be launching daily service between Honolulu and New York JFK starting June 4, 2012. For years only Continental has flown between Newark and Honolulu, and award space has been virtually non-existent. So it’s great to see another airline add service between the two cities.

@ aussieflyer -- Whoops, you're right, thanks. I was looking at the date it started out of JFK, not HNL.

That's a great deal. Unfortunately, I just went to Hawaii.

Lucky, how hard or easy is it to use Hawaiian points on Delta?

How long is the flight since it's nonstop? About 10 hours? My wife struggles being confined for that long, but everything else I've been finding is at least $1000 per person. Btw, flying PIT-HNL.

I'm not sure if you can AA miles to book this at least according to this. I tried online but it wouldn't find the flight when searching for a reward ticket.

Has anyone had any luck? Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Lucky. Any idea when these should be in AA's system for redemption? I logged on to Hawaiian's site to verify availability for my dates already. Just need to find a way to book.

Lucky Said: "Admittedly Hawaiian’s first class product is closer to domestic first class than international business class"

Last time I checked, Lucky, New York to Hawaii was a domestic trip. 🙂

Got 2 Y award tix back in September on CO's EWR-HNL for Thanksgiving day travel.

Had to call to book PHX-HNL on HA with AA miles. The AAgent could not see one of the flights available on the HA website, so I had to book a different day than preferred. I tried 2 different agents and neither could see the 20k miles award available on HA.com on my preferred day.

@Ralph You cannot book partner awards online with AA (except for AS flights as of less than a week ago). You must call and pay the $25 phone ticketing fee (waived for EXP).

FCO-JFK-HNL would be fine but HKG-JFK-HNL would definitely not be allowed. MPM HKG-HNL is 6784 miles and HKG-JFK-HNL is 13055 miles. AA would limit you to 8480 miles on a partner award.

If you're searching for HA coach award inventory for partner redemptions (i.e. from AA miles) it should come from the T bucket which is also easily searchable here: http://www.wandr.me/Tools/Single_Bucket_Inventory.aspx. Even better, you can set an alert with the tool and it will email you if the seats you want become available.

All free, too.

Note that AA's partner award chart requires 45k, not 35k, for a Y redemption on HA during peak seasons. Most of the summer is peak, as is about mid Dec to mid Jan.
