As long as there isn’t a corresponding increase in the normal main cabin fare I don’t see how this is a negative development. It allows those who are truly price sensitive to save a few bucks compared to what they would have spent and allows travelers who value the benefits of the full fare to keep them at the same price they would have spent anyways.
Now if Hawaiian introduced a basic economy fare and subsequently raise the normal main cabin fare I’d agree with you.
Can airlines create anything even lower than main cabin basic ? I just want to get to Hawaii. Aloha !
It is a price increase for regular fares. It shows in the comps with other airlines. The competing fares are Hawaiian's normal fare to competitors 4th class fares; just about identical. So, if order to be comparable, Hawaiian will not doubt raise all the normal fares. And when the 4th class fares run out, the demand for normal economy further increases fares. I don't know why people do see this.
the real story is how Hawaiian's lowest fares compare to Southwest in these markets.
Cost to fly in America is horrible. I cannot wait to retire to move back to Europe and literally never come here again. It's just pathetic.
