It’s been a while since I’ve done an AA status match, because I’ve earned some form of status organically with them for years, but, what I find interesting here is the three phases, since many of these offers usually just involve one phase, then an extension. Perhaps, this encourages more spending and is better for the airline, but it seems tedious. That said, if it helps you, good luck, enjoy!
The article says you can’t status match if your elite status with another airline is lifetime. As long as my statement / credentials from the other airline show Gold, Plat, or whatever, how can AA tell whether that’s lifetime or earned through current flying? Any data points on whether this is actually enforced?
I'm in the midst of my second phase now, initially as a Platinum Pro (earned by being a WOH Globalist). However, I was only able to hit the requirement to maintain Gold for the second phase. What's not clear to me is if I am now stuck in Gold for the remainder of the challenge or if there is an opportunity to move back up into Platinum or Platinum Pro in the third phase if I hit those mileage requirements in the second phase. For personal reasons I had a lighter travel schedule the past few months, but I am likely to return to more travel shortly. Anyone have any insight?
