It’s a great day for American Airlines at Philadelphia Airport (PHL), as the oneworld airline has just opened a massive new dual-branded lounge complex as of today (Thursday, May 22, 2025). These new lounges will likely be the best Flagship Lounge and Admirals Club in the system.

It's nice for sure. I just find it hard to get excited about AA offerings though. They just come so late to the game all of the time.
I also still think this lags Polaris and D1 lounge concept for proper business class. Flagship lounges are basically top tier status lounges for the US, but from a business class perspective, not good enough.
Having gone to the ones in places like DFW and LAX, I can't say I'm impressed compared to what Delta and UA have created. Of all the upcoming lounge projects, I must say I'm the most excited for the SEA D1 lounge, given how nice LAX and JFK have turned out.
I'll visit this AC today. It's a tough call between this and the Chase Sapphire lounge. Nice dilemma to have for once at PHL!
Being a former Philly native, and having flown out of PHL quite a few times after moving away, this is shockingly impressive! Those who know PHL know that it's a crap airport overall, so this is a VERY pleasant surprise!
AA hardly came late to the premium lounge game, they had 4 before UA opened even their first and FL Dining was an innovation. This is starting the next generation, PHL and JFK now have the best international lounges in the network and maybe as good or better then DL (very late to the game) premium lounges.
Now, if they can publish a schedule of when the other 50 AC and FL will be refreshed and renovated that would be great! Also expand PHX high A and add another to CLT PLEASE!!!!
NOTE: AA was also first and years again with Premium Economy and lay-flat with single aisle access across their widebody fleet / and a premium transcon service which is also about to go to a next gen with he XLRs. Following. . .hardly!
While it’s good to see American investing in modern, world class lounge spaces, it would’ve been better to hear that they’re upgrading their domestic fleet with a similarly elevated hard product. As it stands, AA domestic first class isn’t comfortable or competitive enough to consider, given the choice among AA, DL or United.

AA just eliminated their early morning hours at the PHL Flagship lounge, likely to save money. This is so disappointing for passengers with early morning connections to Asia, as they will no longer have lounge access. Can we start a petition to restore access from 5 AM to 8 AM? Thanks.
When I saw new lounge I clicked, then when I saw PHL I wrote the comment and exited

I appreciate your review. I would add a couple of things that I witnessed on Monday. One of the key things that people want is a clean bathroom. That’s really simple, and it is a reason to pay up. Easy, clean experience. The men’s bathroom is far too small in the Admirals Club. One urinal and two stalls. That’s not going to be enough in the summer evening rush. This is a simple design issue - I’m not sure whether American or the airport chose this, but it is not a good choice. A better option would be to give up 10 seats and then make the actual experience “first class.” Note: the club requires going up a 3 story escalator…there are not other options that are close.
Second, I asked for a Coke. Now, leave aside that this is a poor health choice…what do you think I was offered? Perhaps a Coke? Perhaps a Pepsi? Nope - only a pro flyer would know that the drink provided, without disclosure in advance, was a Shasta Cola. For real. If there is an issue with the local airport provider, can we not go to Costco and buy a few cases of either Coke / Pepsi and offer a well known option?
