Airlines Not Releasing Award Space On New Routes?
I love staying on top of new airline routes and aircraft changes, in part because I find new routes to be exciting, but mostly because they usually translate into a lot of award space. Typically once routes are loaded into the schedule, there’s some amount of award space allocated as well.

Fortunately there was plenty of space when TK opened up its SFO-IST flight!
This is somehow related...have you heard the rumor that BA is now allowing using 2-4-1 vouch for one way when phone in? It will make it much easier to book instead to have to search for round-trip since it has been tough to get to Europe from NA.
@ hc -- Right, that's what I was explaining. JAL WAS releasing first class award space on the route. 😀
Ben when it comes to locking in an F Award arriving in Tokyo would you pick CX hands down or is JAL/BA just As viable in your opinion? (flight should depart from europe as starting point)
@purcitron you can read more from Ben's post.
@ Jim -- Using American miles, or...? Because keep in mind American doesn't let you route from the US to Asia 1 (Tokyo) via Asia 2 (Hong Kong). So that would require two awards.
At least JL has released two seats in first class from HND-SFO on many flights next spring - not sure what is going on with EY, but I bet those first several flights are going to go out with a lot of open seats.
Etihad just announced they're flying an A380 from AUH-SYD and they just changed all of their planes to an A380 on their LHR-AUH route... of course, no availability on any route. 🙂
But I would think those who booked LHR-AUH before it turned into an A380 got lucky!
@Ben,
It's a US F award starting in Europe to South-east Asia(SIN) with a stopover on the outbound flight in Tokyo
@ Jim -- Cathay Pacific and Japan Airlines both have great products. I'd do one in each direction if given the option.
