I'm sure I am in a minority of one here, but I'd prefer no wi-fi on planes as it will encourage everyone to stare into their devices just like everywhere else these days.
And there will be all those annoying glows from screens, endless tapping sounds, and so on.
But the thing I really dread is cell phone service on planes. One of the best things about flying is that it is a refuge from all the self-importance of people yakking on their phones about nothing
@Lucky, it seems to me that VA is trying really hard to take the market off Qantas through an excellent business class product. (I'm Gold with QFF), but main reason I don't convert to VA is the lack of ownership on lounges and how the benefits on their FF scheme depends on where you travel. I hate their inconsistency and the rubbish product their offer domestic.
I think that VA definitely has the edge with their J product, although the gap will be closed with QF's new business product in a few years, but VA definitely needs to improve their PE and Y product. I have had ff's who have commented on how poor the meals are on Y, which QF definitely provides a good service with meals and IFE. If VA manage to provide a reliable and affordable wifi plans, with better meals at the back, QF will be in serious trouble!
Oh wow! Sounds fantastic! Being someone that works 24/7, this will be such a benefit to me and many others who require internet access. From a family perspective, this is also fantastic to keep the kids entertained! The worst flights can be when the kids or teens are grumpy! Nonetheless, some parents might prefer to not have their kids zapped to their phones. Personal preference I suppose! But there is no debate at the fact this will be an innovation for business travel.
