Alaska Mileage Plan frequently has promotions targeted at California residents, making it easier to earn elite status. I guess the airline is struggling to maintain elites in California, or maybe it’s just the carrier’s way of competing in a hyper-competitive state.

Ever since Alaska abandoned the seemingly always full SMF to OGG route after southwest started flying the same route.. Many of us can no longer use Alaska because of their poor connections which route through SEA. They don't seem serious about California.. Is a half hearted strategy at best.

Has Alaska given up trying? This has to be the dumbest promo ever. It’s like their marketing dept is run by Ebenezer Scrooge

Not worth the time it takes to register for the offer.

Damn, Lucky. How about adding the word "Unexciting" to the title. Got my hopes up!

I love it. I have 3 trips from SFO to LAX/SAN during this time frame, and will likely add another, which means I don't have to do many (if any) mileage runs to maintain 100K. Even if I do, it's easy to do a quick run between SFO/LAX/SAN and turn right back around to go home vs having to do a run longer distances or plan another trip to qualify for 100K.

It's not an amazing promo but my wife might be shy of MVP so an up and back SAN-FAT can be done in a few hours.

I can't help but chuckle at the irony of this promotion. It's like Alaska Airlines is trying to carve out a little piece of the California pie, even if it's just a crumb.

All in all, I suppose it's nice that Alaska Airlines is making an effort to keep California flyers happy. But let's not pretend that this promotion is a game-changer. It's more like a consolation prize for those stuck flying short distances within the state. But hey, beggars can't be choosers, right? Maybe one day they'll come up with a promotion that truly blows our flip-flops off. Until then, this will have to do.

I registered right before the promotion started on Aug. 15th and I have taken 4 flights within California and I have yet to see the extra miles posted to my account. Waiting to hear from them. Annoying.
