How reliable are the upgrade certificates? Like, is it akin to United’s PlusPoints or American’s systemwide upgrades, because, if so, that’s a nonstarter to me (and I’d prefer the bonus points over all else listed at each level), since those rarely clear (dying on the Waitlist). However, if AS is more like DL’s RUCs and GUCs, which do often confirm at booking, then that’s the way to go. Gonna be spending more on my Atmos card this year, so may actually earn several of these.
I have 7 flights booked on AS in 2026, and only one was upgradable with an expiring cert I was gifted before the end of 2025. To be fair I’m only a lowly Atmos Silver and maybe I’d have better luck if I had higher status.

"...between 10,000 status points and 125,000 status points, you could rack up a total of 88,250 bonus points with milestone rewards." I am not getting this to add up the same way. 750 (10k milestone) + 2500 (30k milestone) + 5000 (55k milestone) + 15000 (95k milestone) + 50000 (125k milestone)=73,250. Where is the other 15k coming from?
So just to confirm, "bonus points" are only redeemable points right? Or would they be status points as well?
In the past 7 years, almost all of my GGU's just expired. They were impossible to use, just like the AA SWU's I had before then. In the past couple of months, I've seen more availability open up (which coincides with much less GGU's being out there). Keep in mind that you need a specific fare class to use an upgrade cert - which is often $150+ more than the lowest available Main fare.
To me, the big unknown is how often upgrade certs can be used on international flights (even if you need 2 certs/flight). Until that is answered, I'm taking the guaranteed points, rollover EQM's, and the Alaska Lounge+ membership over any upgrade certificate.
@Ben, how long do you have to pick your milestone perk? 1 month? 2? Until the end of the year?
You get to choose two 95k milestones. 2x15k points. For that matter you can choose two 55k milestones (2x5k points), so I think the math is off a bit. I'm pretty sure the total is 93,250 bonus points if you choose only bonus points.
Bonus points are redeemable points.
At 95k and higher milestones, one of the options is 10k status points.

@Thomas Thanks! Yeah, I was not sure if you could pick the same benefit twice for the 55k & 95k milestones (no personal experience but hoping to get there this year). If you can, then it is 93,250, and if you cannot it would be 73,250.

I was MVP Gold from 2013 until the year the MVP Gold 100k tier was established and have maintained that level since then and became Titanium when the name change occurred. I have a lot of flying in 2025 and reached 125k Elite Qualifying Miles (now Status Points) by mid-June. I had an additional trip in September that boosted me to 155k Status Points. I took two 10k Status Points Boosts for 2026. With additional flying, I was close to the 200k threshold and passed it easily with a couple of short trips later in the years and Sustained Aviation Fuel Credits. So I took two 10k Status Points boosts for 2026. Alaska offered automatic 20k Status Points Boosts for 2026 for MP members who hit 100k and achieved Titanium Status, which are supposed to post in early February.
What I like about the new plan description is they are clarifying in advance the benefits for continued flying and earning of Status Points beyond the 135k Titanium Threshold. In the past couple of years, it was unclear what the benefits would be, if any, for additional flying. This year, people can make informed choices about optional flying later in the year, which the program now incentivizes.
