On Friday night I flew from Koh Samui to Bangkok on Bangkok Airways, “Asia’s boutique airline.” I had intended to write about them on Saturday during my Hong Kong layover since it was one of the most unique short-haul coach flight experiences I’ve ever had, though after my Royal Jordanian flight I couldn’t bring myself to write about anything else. Anyway, I’ll include the details of my Bangkok Airways flight with the trip report, though in the meantime I can’t help but share their safety video:

Seriously, is this the greatest thing ever or what? From the cheesy-as-Wisconsin dancing to the hilarious pilot voice-over, it may just have stolen the number one spot for the most horribly addicting thing in the airline industry from Turkish. What do you guys think? Which is awesomer, Turkish with their “we are globally yours,” or Bangkok Airways with their safety video?
Wife and I rocked out to this safety video a few days ago on PG133 BKK-USM...wonder if it was meant to be serious?
Haha, I remember they played this on our flight from Bangkok to Yangon. They then followed up with a whole reel of Just For Laughs Gags (http://www.youtube.com/user/JustForLaughsTV) episodes, which is basically a prank-comedy show from Canada. :) There weren't too many people on our flight but everyone was smiling and LOLing... probably the happiest flight I've ever been on.
SAWDIKA
I flew NOK AIR BKK-CHIANG MAI ROUND TRIP 2 MONTHS AGO
At least it gets you to wake up at watch it unlike the rest in the industry.
The darker girl looks like Michelle Obama
Really? their passengers look like models? Give me a break.
Cheesy? Yes. Did I watch the whole thing? Yes. Can't remember the last time I watched the whole safety video on a flight. Maybe the airlines have decided it takes a 'gimmick' to get people to watch the safety videos. That same general attitude seems to have worked well for SWA.....

Were the actual FAs that hot?
I think the film is kinda cute. I don't think it was trying to be a Western safety video... snore! It was just having some fun, and I've got to give them credit for that.
I'm sure the airline itself - and the price - were far better than any domestic US carrier!
i was wondering when you were going to post this. I flew them to Phnom Penh last week and was incredulous when they showed this.
@ wolfgang -- I paid cash and it was about $120 for the one way ticket.
You gotta love an airline that has lounges (with free food!) for coach passengers, and provides free full meals on 60 minute flights. Kind of reminds me of the old Midwest Express without the comfy seats.
Did they follow the terrible safety video with other strange videos throughout your flight?
We video taped it on the return portion 2 weeks ago because we thought no one would believe us on how bad/funny it was! :)
I want 5 minutes of my life back.
Seriously...we need to book the same flight. How much did yours cost and what's the best way to find the best cost. Or is using ANA miles via SPG points the optimal approach?
Sanuk maak.
The little kid disappeared when it was time for the life jackets. I guess he's getting left behind.
Great use of autotune!! Hilarious!
That was...awkward. Like a Miss America choreographed opening number.
Wow, that was just...awful. I wonder how long it's going to take that guy to inflate his life jacket by blowing into(?) the tube?
