Alaska Mileage Plan Is Offering Double Miles In Economy On Select Partner Airlines

Alaska Mileage Plan is one of my all around favorite frequent flyer programs. They offer great elite recognition when traveling on Alaska, have diverse airline partners on which you can earn and redeem miles, allow stopovers on one-way award tickets, and continue to award miles based on distance flown rather than dollars spent… and that’s just the beginning.

Alaska Mileage Plan is one of the best programs for crediting miles from any of their partner airlines.

They offer generous mileage earning, and also offer excellent elite mileage bonuses for travel on partners. For example, MVP Gold 75K members receive a 125% mileage bonus for all flights credited to the program. That’s in addition to the excellent mileage earning rates they have to begin with — discounted business class on Cathay Pacific and Emirates earn 225% of flown miles, discounted business class on British Airways earns 250% of flown miles, etc.

So as an MVP Gold 75K member you’re looking at earning 350-375% redeemable miles for many discounted business class tickets. This doesn’t account for the 50,000 bonus miles you receive every year for earning MVP Gold 75K status.

As if their mileage earning isn’t good enough already, Alaska Mileage Plan has a promotion offering bonus miles for travel in economy on select partner airlines. The promotion is valid for travel between June 1 and September 30, 2017. You need to register prior to your first qualifying flight in order to earn bonus miles, though it’s fine if the travel was booked previously.

The bonus miles should post within 4-6 weeks of when you take your flight.

The promotion is limited to specific routes and airlines, though does cover virtually all economy fares, which is great. Here are the eligible routes and flights:

It’s fine if your itinerary includes flights beyond the above nonstop segments, though you’ll only earn the bonus miles for the above flights.

This translates to some great mileage earning opportunities for travel in economy class, given that you’ll earn a 100% bonus on base mileage, in addition to any elite mileage bonuses.

  1. @Lucky as an AA ExecPlat and an Alaska Gold 75K if I credit to Alaska can I still show my AA ExecPlat to access Qantas lounges if I do this promotion?

  2. Lucky, please, a question, drawing on your expertise, regarding the fine print. The terms of offer state it covers Qantas flights from SYD to SFO, but also says “Double miles offer is valid on qualifying paid nonstop flights….” I have a single ticket on Qantas which routes me AKL to SYD and then SYD to SFO (all QF). The SYD to SFO flight obviously is nonstop, but, on the other hand, the ticket itself includes a stop (i.e. transit in SYD). Do i still get double miles for the SYD-SFO leg?

  3. So if this includes double the miles on super discounted economy tickets that normally get 25% of miles flown, then it jumps to 50%?

  4. Wonderful! I’m flying EK economy class from LAX to BOM via DXB on august second and back on the 26th I’ll definitely benefit from this! Thanks Ben!

  5. Hey Ben? Actually I have a question. The page says you get a bonus if you fly between point A and Point B. So I’m flying Emirates from LAX to DXB in august and then DXB to BOM which is not eligible for the bonus. However, will the return from dxb to LAX be eligible for double miles as well?
