American flight attendant loses it on flight from Dallas to Chicago…

11

Check out this Dallas Observer article about an American flight this morning from Dallas to Chicago, where one of the flight attendants apparently lost it. She supposedly repeatedly announced on the PA that she’s not responsible if the plane crashes, and after a bit of back-and-forth between her and the other flight attendants, she was eventually restrained by passengers. Two flights attendants were injured.

Check out the story, including the video at the bottom of the second page where you can hear her screaming. I suspect she was off her meds. Maybe it was Helen?

She makes Steven Slater look tame

Of course if this was a Muslim passenger with mental health issues who went berzerk, the comments would surround his/her faith, rather than the mental health issues. (not on here though as most of Ben's readers are sane, educated, and the most intelligent people )

Yes, I agree with kelly. It's very sad. Unfortunately, there is a stigma attached to mental illnesses. It's a serious medical condition, but many people often don't understand (or bother to) understand that it is a medical condition that can affect someone as drastically as someone who may have other medical ailments, like cancer, diabetes or other conditions. I hope the flight attendant is okay and gets the medical attention she needs.

It is really sad when you think about it. I had a good friend who took meds for bi-polar. She was a very successful legal secretary in Chicago. But when something went wrong with her meds or she stopped taking them she freaked out. She had a few times where she got admitted. She did crazy stuff. Very smart girl who finished top of her class. I hope this flight attendant is ok...

Hmmm, a reaction to one too many TSA encounters?

just as we were landing in DFW around 2 p.m. I heard our flight attendants on the phone talking about this and gossiping. Sounds like it was quite a show.

I take the PA in the rear galley on any flight I'm not upgraded on and yell obscenities. This is routine and generally goes unpunished. The flight attendant did nothing wrong I believe.

A federal law enforcement official who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation was continuing said that airport police determined the incident was a medical issue and not a security threat.

American Airlines spokesman Ed Martelle said that "an incident occurred involving some of the cabin crew," and that two flight attendants were taken to local hospitals for treatment. He declined to provide their names or information about their injuries or conditions.

I'm going to guess ethanol intoxication.
